Meet Elvin Rosa | Student Athlete, Business Owner, Actor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Elvin Rosa and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elvin, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks has always been a part of my life, whether in baseball or acting, or owning a business. I think one of the most important things I have learned is that, the best chances of success are when you have thought through things and your risks are calculated. However, regardless of the outcome, every risk, win or lose, was a learning experience for me. Learning to take risks taught me to get out of comfort zone. I learned that you can never be afraid to fail, or you may never know your full potential.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am most proud of the ability I have to help customers express themselves through their style, specifically their shoes. I meet lots of different people, from all over the country, and every time someone reaches out to me to create a shoe with images or designs or graphics that are important to them or their family, or hold value and memories, I get to hear their story. It’s such an awesome experience to bring peoples memories, hopes, dream, and their style, to life.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was coming to Dallas for a week, I’d tell them they’d need more than a week. But there are definitely some spots that are at the top of the list. Straight from the airport we’re heading to Plucker’s. You can’t beat their boneless wings. From Plucker’s we’d head to Bishop Arts District to walk around and shop all the handmade crafts and local Dallas curators. Each day I’d try to explore a different part of Dallas. Deep Ellum is a must see with some really great restaurants. After breakfast at 360 Brunch House in Mansfield, we’d spend the morning shopping at Mockingbird Station and definitely head in to Centre. We’d spend the afternoon in the city at Clyde Warren Park, trying all the food trucks and hitting up Nollege. Then maybe head to Concrete Cowboy or The Star in Arlington, either choice is a good time. I would have to take anyone visiting to Fort Worth to see the Stock Yards, grab some great food at Velvet Taco, maybe play a little TopGolf, and then head to Varsity Tavern for the night. We would eat a lot throughout the week, got to try La Calle Dolce in Oakcliff and Rodeo Goat. Whataburger is always a hit with out-of-state visitors. Some family favorites are Capital Grill, Benihana’s, and Sam’s Pizza in Cedar Hill. And finally, you can’t leave Dallas without trying Fuel City tacos and elotes.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My father has played a major role in my success in every endeavor I have pursued. He has taught me how to run a business, how to work hard, and to always strive to be my very best. He has shown me how to be kind to people and to value every individual for their unique talents. Most importantly, he has always believed in my dreams and has always supported me pursing what makes me happy.
