We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Samantha Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Samantha, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started my online business succeedcourses.com because I noticed knee replacement therapy was one of the hardest for patients. Not only is this a huge surgery, it is not one that is studied in detail by physical therapists, and we are the ones that can make or break a patients recovery. As I noticed the complexity of this surgery, I started posting about recovery tips on my TikTok page. The videos I did about knee replacements specifically were always the most popular. My second thought was I needed to make a support group and provide evidence based, scientific based research in the group. There were other support groups out there, but they were not monitored by a PT. I, then, started a Facebook Group dedicated to knee replacement recovery. As I monitored the group, I noticed so many people struggling with their rehab. The rehabilitation for a knee replacement is complex. It can’t be answered, nor should it be answered, in a Facebook Group. This brought me to my final decision to create an educational course specifically designed for knee replacement patients.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a Physical Therapist, we are required to complete a Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree to practice. Although a doctoral level degree may seem like enough, that was only the beginning. Physical therapists rarely specialize in certain body parts, joints or surgeries. I decided to dedicate my career to knee replacement recovery. Specializing in a specific body part really narrows down your clients. This was definitely a challenge in the beginning of my business. I did not have enough clientele to completely stop by day job as a Home Health Physical Therapist. I was working 9AM – 4PM as a Home Health PT and then working my online business from 8 PM – 12 AM after I made dinner, relaxed with my family and put my 3 year old son to bed. The beginning of my business was a lot of hard work and dedication, which I was not getting paid for at the time. Luckily, my business has grown enough where I have clients that want to work with me because they have been able to find another knee replacement specialist. I provide a unique opportunity for clients wanting to improve their recovery.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A few of my favorite places to go are Legacy West in Plano, Uchiba in Dallas, and Northpark Mall in Dallas. Not only are those DFW staples but there is so much to do! I have a routine I sometimes do on a Saturday with my family. We first get coffee at 151 Coffee in Plano, drive to Legacy West, shop around at various shops, grab lunch at the food hall and then let my 3 year old son play in the food hall outdoor court yard. Another itinerary is stopping for coffee at Lemma Coffee in downtown plano, then driving to Northpark Mall to have lunch at Eataly’s Terra Restaurant.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
One of my closest friends, Trenton Harris. He is the owner at mbbdigi.com, a Dallas SEO Company. He has taught me so much about how to grow my online business, increase traffic to my website, and improve customer experience.
