We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Logan Spacek, PT, DPT, PCES and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Logan, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I never expected to have my own business, but I felt the Lord calling me to help women after my own experience with mental health challenges during my pregnancies and postpartum period. I began to open up about my experiences and found that countless other women had similar experiences to me. These women desired to be heard, encouraged, and supported. They needed someone to break the silence about the way women experience miscarriage, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I heard over and over again… “My doctor never told me. I wish someone would have told me.” I felt God calling me after the birth of my second child to do something to help prepare women for postpartum and to help prevent postpartum mental health problems. That is when I started diving into the research about how to help women heal their bodies deeply and holistically in the postpartum period. I started writing my book, “Reclaiming Motherhood: Thriving Postpartum” during that time, which is primarily for pregnant women who are preparing for postpartum. I later wrote another book for women who are already moms called, “Reclaiming Motherhood: Postpartum Recovery.” I then grew my business to 1 on 1 wellness coaching, programs/group support for moms, and now pelvic physical therapy. I own my own pelvic physical therapy and wellness coaching practice in Waxahachie, Texas and help women of all ages heal their bodies holistically, with a special passion for pregnancy/postpartum. Pelvic physical therapy helps moms heal from low back/hip/pelvic pain, abdominal pain, diastasis recti, weakness, pain with sex, post-C section recovery, incontinence, urgency, and pelvic organ prolapse. Pelvic physical therapy also helps moms experience pregnancy more comfortably and prep for labor and birth. It is an absolute HONOR and JOY to serve women through my business and I truly feel like I have been called to this purpose.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been a physical therapist since 2014 and have worked in multiple different settings including inpatient adult/pediatrics, outpatient pediatrics, adult/pediatric home health, and now women’s health. I feel that I am very well-rounded because of my previous experiences. I feel that what sets me apart is my drive, determination, and genuine empathy when serving my patients. I also treat very holistically and I am educated on women’s wellness during postpartum. When patients come see me, we aren’t just working on the physical part of healing, we are working on so much more. I am most proud that I recently moved to Waxahachie (less than a year ago) and I took a leap of faith to continue serving women in pelvic physical therapy. God set out a plan for me so beautifully and I am proud that I followed my intuition and so thankful that He continues to provide for me and my business. My goal for my business is to have a multidisciplinary women’s wellness center with a collaborative focus of serving and healing mothers. The process of becoming a physical therapist is FAR from easy. The schooling was no joke, but I got through it with a lot of help from friends that were in my program as well as a lot of grit and determination. I feel that I was led to pelvic physical therapy because of my personal experience when I became a mother. I tend to deal with overcoming challenges and hard things in life by prioritizing my well-being, exercising, and a lot of prayer! I’ve learned a lot of hard lessons along the way and I think one of the most important ones I’ve learned is to always follow my intuition. I want the world to know about my brand and my story because mothers need support! Mothers are the most influential people in society and they are overlooked time and time again in health care. Mothers need support, encouragement, and they need someone advocating for them!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love supporting small businesses and I am a sucker for towns with a small town feel. If my friend was visiting me in Waxahachie, I would definitely take her to Vita Coffeehouse, Cork & Keg, and Ohana in Waxahachie – a few of my favorite restaurants! I would take her for a stroll or run around Getzendaner Park in Waxahachie and shopping downtown. I would also take her to the Arboretum and Katy Trail in Dallas. I love deep, meaningful conversations so we’d probably also just hang out at home and enjoy each other’s company!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
When I was in the process of writing my book, my sister in law-Kamden Spacek and friends-Allison Lucero & Kacie Innes helped me put it together and edit it for me. They were lifesavers and so talented! My husband, Keith, has been my absolute biggest supporter during this whole process. He knows how much my business mission means to me as he saw me go through everything postpartum. My old business coach, Josh Payne, was also instrumental in giving me the confidence that my vision for my business was needed and so important. I read A LOT of books, but some of the most influential books that I read on my journey were The Postnatal Depletion Cure by Dr. Oscar Serrallach and In the Flo by Alisa Vitti. All of my patients continue to motivate me and support me and my vision for my business.
