We had the good fortune of connecting with Diana Barrese and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Diana, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I started thinking about opening Red Joker Apparel I was really looking at it from a marketing a design perspective vs a fashion perspective. I have a background in retail and an even stronger background in graphic design and marketing. I was designing for fun and really missed having my work being utilized and shown. I went with t-shirts because they are fun, diverse and can be styled in so many different ways. I wanted to create a place for people to shop where it didn’t matter what style or genre you fell into, wether you’re into glam, comfort or western. I also wanted to make sure I carried an all inclusive line- all, our tees range from a size XS-5XL and are all priced at the same value. No one size is more or less expensive then the other. Red Joker Apparel is based on uniqueness and finding yourself in your style.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Starting a business is never easy, especially one in the retail and fashion space. There are so many boutiques and brands out there so finding the sweet spot is very difficult. The name Red Joker Apparel alone came from a place of new beginnings and being underestimated, rebellious and unique. I wanted to stand out by designing my own apparel and having it reach everyone. Red Joker Apparel doesn’t fall into one category or one genre of style. I also take pride in being an all inclusive and affordable brand. Fashion doesn’t need to be expensive, nor should it discriminate based on size.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love music and all kinds of music! The Fort Worth Stockyards are such a fun place to walk around and catching a show at Billy Bob’s makes it all the more fun!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’ve been lucky enough to work with some incredible brands as an influencer, prior to opening Red Joker Apparel and they’ve all been supportive and are really who inspired me to start my own business. So, definitely KHAOSS Apparel, Heidi has been a dream to work with and has been a huge supporter. Roaming K Creations, she’s another graphic designer I’ve been lucky enough to work with and she’s is just super talented and really just knows how to reach into your mind and an idea to life.
