We had the good fortune of connecting with Tye Baudin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tye, what matters most to you?
The most important value in my life has been Christ. He is the center of my motivation, drive and life. I’m convinced that it has been my relation with Christ and biblical worldview that has shaped me as a man, husband, father, & business owner. The Bible instructs us to do all things to the Glory of God, to love Him and Love people & that the motivation and intentions of our heart should have those two objectives at the center of all we do. it has been these values that drive me as a business owner to develop excellent service with the client’s best interest in mind. To perform my work with efficiency and purpose so as to make the best use of my time and optimize my Family time. I’ve noticed first-hand how these values have allowed my business to flourish because I really care about people and their well-being, I care about offering a great service at a fair price and I believe that has been pleasing to God and He is blessing our efforts.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m the owner of 911 Exterminators, a pest control company specializing in residential pest control. I started pest control in Louisiana almost 10 years ago working for a company in my hometown. I was responsible for routine service to 7 nursing homes in north LA, a small hospital in south LA and many residential and commercial pest and termite jobs in central LA. I’m very thankful for my experience and time with that company. I moved to Texas 2 years later and worked very hard to get licensed and certified to start up my own company. My first attempt to start a business went well, but was short lived. I got married shortly after and got out of the business for a while but kept up my license. Approx. 7 years later my family moved to a new development community that was growing fast and we decided to launch a new pest control business there. things blew up. my first year I offered significant discounting due to covid-19 and did most of my work out of my golf cart. I’m now in my second year with a fully loaded work truck paid for, a full-time technician doing all my treatments and just managing at the moment. We have done over 3x the income this year than last and next year’s projections are looking really great. our secret sauce has been simple but not easy – offer more service for less – with unbeatable customer service. I’ve taken great pride in offering thorough treatments and when clients have questions or concerns – responding promptly and professionally.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, that’d be a bit of a pipe dream for me, see my wife is disabled and I’m her primary care giver, it’s extremely difficult for me to get away for more than a day. but if I had 1 good day just to have fun, I’d have to rent a boat and go fishing – then wrap up the evening with a good steakhouse and a poker game.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give credit to a spiritual mentor of mine, Joseph Dugas, who as of recently has passed away. Joseph took time with me to teach me important things that responsibility, character development and integrity. I spent over 4 years working under his leadership at church making $100/week working roughly 80 hours. i learned things that I couldn’t have gotten through any school. those 4 years were among some the toughest years I’ve experienced, but wouldn’t trade them for anything
