We had the good fortune of connecting with Diamond Monet and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Diamond, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to start a business that solved one of many issues prominently in the United States, but also within my community, obesity. I have a passion for health & wellness and believe that it is my sole purpose to educate, motivate & encourage our community about ways to make their health a priority and ultimately live a higher quality of life! All of that being said, my goal was to create a business to motivate women to want to workout and achieve their fitness goals, so MISSDIFIT – The Fitness Equipment Brand was born. MISSDIFIT provides an array of resistance bands, self-therapy tools, and workout programs to support you along your fitness journey.
I wanted to serve as a platform to provide women, in particular tools they could use inside or outside of the gym at an affordable cost! Not everyone has access to a gym, or may experience gym-intimidation when entering one, so I wanted to make a way for those to workout at home with quality equipment.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
MISSDIFIT – The Fitness Equipment Brand, is committed to women’s wellness and providing tangible support thru fitness. We strive to provide the highest quality fitness equipment, we always say “Quality over Quantity”. I am most proud of how MISSDIFIT has positively impacted the lives of many others and excited about new events and products that will soon be available on the site!
My father is an entrepreneur, so he has coached me and provided me many of the resources on how to register my business name, ways to buy my product, and communicating my services to the masses. I also have friends that have started their own businesses that has taught me so many things to capitalize off of, and things to certainly (try to) avoid. No way has starting nor running MDF has been easy. Finding the right manufacturers for your products, creating your pricing/what you are willing to spend to reach MOQ requirements, and marketing are just a few challenges that come with it. Also, being a full-time graduate student, only working part-time has been a little obstacle due to the many expenses and time-consuming factors that come with having a business, but overall we are managing!
Some lessons that I have learned along the way are that 1) not everything is going to be perfect or go exactly how we want it, and 2) your passion and genuine efforts to sell products and services is key to reaching, maintaining, and engaging clientele.
I want the world to know that you are NOT, in any way alone on your health (fitness) journey. We all have mental/emotional battles that we face but trust me, you are much stronger than you think! MDF, is my passion and I am so happy to share it with the world through my brand. I am just a girl from Grand Prairie, TX who had a vision and dream to positively impact those around me. Health is wealth and you deserve to live your BEST healthy life!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh wow, to be honest, I’m still exploring new places here myself, but I LOVE brunching! So we would definitely start there first by grabbing a bite to eat at my new favorite place, Yolk. Next, we would visit a museum that has a cool exhibit or the Perot museum in Downtown Dallas. Depending on the day, we then would go on a hike somewhere that has a pretty view at the end. I enjoy nature and hikes. The next day, would totally be a spa or massage day. Self-care is very important to me, so I find it that getting a massage and just relaxing in a calm environment implements that for me. Then, later go shopping, because what girl doesn’t like to shopping and brunch!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to say a huge shoutout to my family, specifically my younger sister, mom and dad! They have supported me every step of the way.
