We had the good fortune of connecting with Cindy Rodella-Purdy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cindy, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
I don’t see my career having an end goal. That is what I love about living a creative life. There isn’t an end date. I think I will pursue different paths and grow in areas that I haven’t explored yet. Currently, I’m spending time reworking my illustration portfolio. So I’m taking zoom webinars from groups like the Highlights Foundation and Society of Children Writers and Illustrators. We are never too old or too experienced to learn and grow. I also work as a graphic designer for my company Creative Cat Media, Inc. with my husband John Purdy.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have loved being an artist and designer for as long as I can remember. I like to work on the computer and also with traditional mediums. I think what I love most about my work is the problem-solving part. Whether I’m designing a website, print piece, or working on an illustration it all involves problem-solving. Taking something and making it visual. I find that the most enjoyable part of my work.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Before the pandemic I would go to the Dallas Museum of Art, Turtle Creek Park, Katy Trail, Uptown, Yoga Classes, Coffee Shops just to hang out and sketch. I would get together with friends and sketch or explore different areas.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband and business partner John A. Purdy. I couldn’t have done this journey without his support and partnership.
Other: www.creativecatmedia.net is my other business site.
