We had the good fortune of connecting with Día Monté and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Día, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
The way I see it as a performer in general, drag is one of the coolest careers because we get to spread joy! Nothing makes me happier than seeing an audience member of my show enjoying my performance and having a good time. That’s what it’s all about at a drag show, whether it’s in a club, brunch, party, or festival we want everyone in attendance to enjoy the show & be happy!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Día Monté is your latin theatre showgirl of Dallas, Texas ! I am so honored to have been performing for over 4 years now and have already accomplished so much. I was the opening act for Chappell Roan twice in Dallas, I had the honor of working with Murray & Peter presents on “Jimbo’s Drag circus” tour as well as “A drag queen christmas” tour in Canada! I also recently starred in a series titled “Transfolk” now streaming on Amazon Prime!

I recently competed in a state pageant titled Miss Gay Texas America in which i placed runner up (2nd) and qualified to compete at the national Miss Gay America Pageant in January! You can catch Día all over the Dallas/Ft. worth area and mainly at Round-Up Saloon every Tuesday night !

Coming from a small country town in west texas to being a well known drag artist in the Dallas community reminds me why I love to perform. I always wanted to be an actor and when I discovered drag I said to myself “this is even better!” Not only do I get to perform whatever I want, look good doing it, and be involved in the queer community, I am basically protesting against a lot of “traditional limits” but in a way that is my own self expression, while creating a space for people to be seen and involved. It’s the best job in the world.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Round-Up Saloon is a must of course, you can catch me there every Tuesday Night at 11 pm! Luckys hot chicken is a food place I love to bring friends too! And finishing the evening with a stroll on the Ronald Kirk bridge and watch the Dallas Skyline light up!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to my supportive parents Havis and Amanda Landin for being there for me! Shoutout to my drag sisters Bradina Jay Kage and Cherise Maraschino for helping me as a performer and person. And shoutout to the Round-up Saloon in Dallas, Tx for giving me so many opportunities’!
