We had the good fortune of connecting with Deborah Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Deborah, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
To become a voice to help women who have low self esteem and that have become victims of domestic abuse. Teaching them to become self aware, self confident, strong and empowered of who they are.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business, Women Empowering Women Foundation of Dallas a non profit who empowers women of domestic violence and encourage young women today to become self confident women. I have always had a vision and mission to empower women to take the next step. What set me apart from other business is taking a bigger step in my organization and recognizing our celebrity Ms. Erykah Badu in 2004 for her great community service in the DFW area. The Gibson Legacy continues to build strong families today along with Erykah’s mom Kolleen Wright.
My lesson I learned today is always take your time and position the correct people in your space and give each person the right platform to work. Always delegate and never try to wear all hats. I love to WIN and never give UP. My goal is to become nationally recognize for my service. “When the world says give up…Hope whispers, try it one more time.”
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite spots in the city
Pappadeux’s Lemmon Ave, Dallas, Tx.
The Allen Outlet for shopping, Cheesecake Factory Allen, Tx because of the outdoor music, shopping and entertainment
Vinetta’s fun spot for live entertainment and dancing
The W Hotel for dinning and cocktails
The Omni Hotel dinning and cocktails
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Ms. Shabazz, has been an inspiration to me as a friend, an encourager who always tell me to take the next big step. She has supported my Women Empowering Foundation of Dallas and I give her credit for recognizing great efforts and talents in our community to help empower our younger generation today. She’s an entrepreneur with great vision and purpose. Therefore, I recognize Ms. Shabazz as someone I can always count on when needed.
