We had the good fortune of connecting with Crushanda Hopkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Crushanda, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I was born and raised in Dallas, TX and from the Pleasant Grove area. I grew up with a very loving and supportive family, and we’re still the same way today. My family plays an important part of who I’ve become, and the values they instilled in me have provided a solid foundation for me today.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m most proud about where Pie Crush Bakery started from and excited about what’s in store for the future. Starting a business and putting yourself out there can be uncomfortable and it’s not easy, but it’s all worth it. I’ve learned that you have to believe in yourself and take a leap of faith in anything that you desire. Pie Crush Bakery is a result of that!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d take them on a tour around Downtown Dallas and surrounding cities to check out some popular restaurants, historic landmarks, and scenic views. A few places that would definitely be on the list are the Reunion Tower, Dallas Arboretum, and some museums. As far as restaurants, there’s so many good places to eat but Mexican food would be at the top of the list.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my mama and grandma for starting me on this journey and having me in the kitchen with them as I was growing up. This is how it all got started for me and where I found my love of baking. Thank you to my brother for always supporting me from the start. And a special thanks to my loving and supportive husband. I couldn’t have done it without the continuous love and support from my family.
