We had the good fortune of connecting with Coach Ricardo Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Coach Ricardo, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for Effective Living LLC was birthed out of both personal experience and observation. I noticed that so many people—myself included—were constantly busy, chasing success, juggling responsibilities, and pursuing goals, yet still feeling unfulfilled. One day, over breakfast with my good friend and brother, Dominick Antonino, we had a powerful conversation about the concept of intentionally creating a life you don’t need a vacation from. That moment stuck with me.

It sparked a deeper dive into researching what that kind of business could look like. From there, I realized there was a clear need to help people manage their lives with more purpose and intentionality. That’s how Effective Living was born, with three core pillars: motivational speaking, life coaching, and consulting. At the heart of it, the mission is simple—helping people build lives they enjoy, value, and feel proud of.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Effective Living LLC is a life management and personal development company dedicated to helping individuals design lives they don’t need a vacation from. What sets us apart is our commitment to customization—our services are tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach because every person’s journey, goals, and challenges are different. Our first priority is always to assess the individual and determine how best we can serve them—or if we’re the right fit at all.

What excites me most is watching lives transform through the systems and strategies we provide. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing someone take control of their life and start thriving. As the founder of Effective Living, I do my best to live what I teach. That’s not always easy in a world where it’s easier to preach than to practice, but I remain a student of the principles we offer.

The journey hasn’t always been easy. Like any growing business, we’ve faced our share of challenges—building credibility, finding the right clients, and staying consistent through setbacks. But we’ve pushed through by staying purpose-driven and valuing authenticity over hype. One major lesson I’ve learned is the power of consistency and staying committed to the process even when results aren’t immediate.

At Effective Living LLC, we are the real deal. Our goal is simple: to help people manage their lives in a way that allows them to love who they are and who they’re becoming. I want the world to know that we don’t just teach life management—we live it, every single day.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting, I’d make sure they got the full Texas experience—starting with horseback riding in Granbury, Texas. It’s the perfect way to kick off the adventure with a taste of Western charm. From there, we’d head over to tour the legendary Cowboy Stadium, followed by lunch at Texas Live for some great food and atmosphere.

Next stop would be NorthPark Mall for a bit of shopping, before heading back to my hometown of Red Oak, Texas. As a proud City Councilman, I’d take them on a drive around to show off some of the exciting developments and what God is doing in our community. We’d grab a meal at one of my favorite local spots—Gravy’s & More.

We’d also make time for fun and fitness at B&B Theater in Red Oak, where we’d play some pickleball, enjoy a great meal, and maybe even catch a good movie.

On Sunday, I’d take them to church with me at Pathway of Life Church in Dallas to hear a powerful, life-changing message from my pastor, Kelly James. During the week, I’d also bring them to a Waxahachie Rotary Club meeting so they could witness firsthand how we live out the motto “Service Above Self.” A visit to the Red Oak Chamber office to meet our incredible CEO, Clint Woodward, would also be on the list—he’s doing phenomenal work with local businesses.

Of course, no trip would be complete without some family time—so we’d close out the week at home with my beautiful wife Karen, our daughter Grace, and hopefully our son from UNT joining us for a backyard barbecue.

All in all, it’d be a week full of meaningful experiences, Texas-sized fun, great food, and unforgettable memories!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely! I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to the late Dr. Myles Munroe, a remarkable global leader from The Bahamas whose teachings profoundly shaped my life. His powerful messages and phenomenal books continue to inspire millions, but one book that personally impacted me was Becoming a Leader. It shifted how I saw myself, leadership, and purpose. Dr. Munroe’s wisdom helped lay the foundation for who I am today and the work I now do to help others discover and maximize their own potential.
