We had the good fortune of connecting with Cirah Wilkinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cirah, is there something you believe many others might not?
One conventional advice that I disagree with is the notion that being cutthroat is the only approach to having a successful business. In my opinion, fostering a sense of community and supporting others is much more valuable than competition. Success can be achieved collectively if we collaborate and work together.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Getting to where I am today professionally was a journey of dedication and consistency. Even during challenging times, I kept on trucking. Starting my business in Azle, TX with only 2 clients in the first month was tough, but I waxed them as if I was fully booked. I didn’t reschedule them because It was going to actually cost me to only come in for one client that day. This is something I still am firm on, clients know if I have to cancel or reschedule them it is because me or my kid is sick. I won’t be calling out just because!
To increase my clientele from 2 I had to get out there and spread the word. Doing things like vendor events, and passing out business cards door-to-door with my baby in tow. (Things I still do now.)
One valuable lesson I’ve learned is to prioritize quality over profit and focus on what I excel at, like avoiding offering services, such as eyebrow waxing, that I’m not skilled in to maintain my integrity. Because of this, clients can trust I won’t recommend products just to make a quick buck.
I want to spread the word about creating a comfortable experience for clients, emphasizing that hair removal doesn’t have to be rushed or extremely painful. The words “Gentle” and “Efficient” live harmoniously here at Copper Moon.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would go to Annie’s Country Kitchen in Springtown for the best pancakes on the planet. Coffee break at The Working Cup & lunch at Reds Burgers in Azle, swing by the Crazy Water Spa in Mineral Wells for a massage and dinner back in Springtown at The Cornfed Club where the side of potatoes are to die for, like lick the plate clean die for.
My favorite places to go to when I need a mental reset are the hiking trails in Mineral Wells and if you want a fun place to refuel after disc golf in the Springtown park, Pojo Coffee Shoppe has lemonades and homemade cookies.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family of course, my daughter and husband keep me reaching and striving to be the best at my craft. Along with Jazmin Pizana at Sublime Esthetics LLC. My go to girl! Our monthly meetings to talk marketing and all things esthetics keep my creative spark alive. I’m so grateful our paths crossed!
