We had the good fortune of connecting with Ciarra Alisha and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ciarra, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always preferred to be the captain of my own ship or to find roles where I had lots of freedom and being immersed in my family’s business throughout my life I knew at some point I wanted to cultivate an identity apart from them. After years spent in the hectic pace of the restaurant industry and riding the waves of turbulence and tranquillity I became inspired to craft more personal experiences with people. Massage therapy allows me to embrace my entrepreneurial spirit in an environment centered around calm and offers me the autonomy and freedom to be innovative and creative.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Ciaura /see-or-ruh/ was created as a unique combination of my own individual identity (Ciarra) and the emotions that shape our physical life experiences with different energetic frequencies (our auras). It’s my goal to empower others to listen to and trust their bodies through their journey of healing by blending science and the art of touch. As we are all products of our experiences it’s important to know that we are not defined by our trauma, past pain or mental distress. Massage therapy is more than just releasing tension throughout the body. It’s an experience that involves the whole environment and is a journey through the senses that is meant to take you away from the worries of the outside world and bring you to a place of peace. What I want the community to know about my business is that Ciaura was created to help heal the wounds no one sees. I want to ensure that my clients are offered a natural means to care for their body while holding space for them.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A visit from my best friend Terumi is simply good for my soul! A kidless morning we would start by sleeping in until 8 a.m., because that is a luxury for us! Then, coffee. I recently found a local gem that would be our first stop to meet our coffee quota, Roots Coffeehouse. Their lavender honey latte is amazing! What’s a girls’ day without a taco date? Coco Shrimp has a cozy, chill vibe. Can’t go wrong with their sampler plate! A day with my girl is the perfect opportunity to treat ourselves to an hour of relaxation to unwind and rejuvenate at a local spa, of course. Restore + Revive is the perfect whole body healing sanctuary. I would simply treasure any moment I can enjoy being a client. Now, this isn’t the time to count calories because the dining scene in Fort Worth is host to a myriad of options to satisfy every mood. There is so much to explore and so many places I still need to tick off my list. Any sort of local eatery that has a bit of quirky uniqueness is a good match for us. I love the concept of playing board games at Game Theory while you wait or eat your food. The truffle fries and wings are super yum! The week wouldn’t be complete without something sweet. A stop at Tastebuds Eatery, the family business, serves up modern dishes with a twist on traditional American food, but they’re also known for the desserts. Displayed at the enclosed glass bar when you first walk in. I know the key is to get there early because one, they go fast and two, the doors are locked at 6. Coca-cola or 7-up cake are favorites of mine and Terumi is a fan of the banana pudding and pineapple pecan cake. When the sun is cooperating we would grab a good pair of shoes and head out to explore the scenic and serene Botanic Gardens for a nice ending to our visit!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to my TRIBE! My family and friends have been the entire driving force behind my creation. My children who are on their own paths to understanding and achieving their own desires and are inspired to be the boss of their own narratives. My parents who have helped guide many aspects of my journey while running their neighborhood restaurant. My brother, Chae Amando and his amazingly gifted mind has helped me to explore my own unique potential. My friends and classmates who have offered encouragement and their time to practice therapeutic work and my instructors who provided me the many lessons to the mysteries of the human body.
