We had the good fortune of connecting with Chyna Norman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chyna, why did you pursue a creative career?
Since a little girl I’ve always been intrigued and invested into the beauty industry. I’ve always loved everything hair, skin and nails. Which is why I decided to take the next step in 2021 to enroll into Paul Mitchell Arlington Cosmetology program. I remember trying to start my cosmetology journey doing extensions, installing wigs and sew ins in my room. I thought to myself I need a foundation, I need more knowledge.. more of a skill set because I can’t do this on my own! I need to go to school to get basic knowledge and skills to help me on the route that I’m taking. I knew for sure I needed my cosmetology license. I love how you’re able to express yourself in so many different ways while doing hair. Even the most simplest trim can make such a huge difference. I love making people feel good about themselves, seeing that smile and glow after every service is done makes me feel whole. I wanted to be able to make a difference in people lives and what better way to do that then making people feel even more beautiful with HAIR! The greatest gift you can give yourself is to find something you’re naturally adept at.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m honestly excited to see my transformation and continued growth in this field I love so much. I proud of how determined and hungry I am for continued growth and development in my creative career. I know it’s so much more this industry has to offer and I’m ready to just soak it all up like a sponge! I want to do more along my career but I know that good things take time, no rushing. I know and pray for more doors to continue to be opened as I step into my professional career soon! As experienced, cosmetology school isn’t easy but it’s definitely rewarding and I’m so grateful for the position I was in despite many setbacks that occurred along my way. I lost my daddy early September 2021 and it was one of the most hardest and crushing things I could’ve ever experienced and had to go through! I felt as if my world was crumbling right before I had to begin cosmetology school that October. I felt defeated and unmotivated. I felt as if I lost one of my greatest support systems. I’ve learned that sometimes you might fall, you might get hit with roadblocks ESPECIALLY when you’re working on bettering yourself but you have to remember that end goal, why you started to begin with. Ultimately success is earned not giving, so everyday you have to put in the work to be better than you were the day before. We all have a story, we all have downfalls, but sometimes it’s good to use those breakthroughs as fuel and lesson learned to help us to continue to grow on our path. I eventually want to be in a salon that best suites me and my skills. I’d like to soon venture off into my own establishment but I want to obtain as much knowledge, skills, and information as I can so when opportunity is presented I can provide for my clients the best way possible. I’m so determined in this life to to best me! I want my name to ring bells, I want to be big! I tell people all the time “the worlds going to know my name” I feel this route was destined and I won’t fumble! I want the world to know how loving and courageous I am! That no matter what comes my way, I will NEVER give up.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Though I’m not a meat eater any more, I’d recommend Ruth Chris for good steaks! I use to enjoy pappadeaux! They have amazing fondue! Red claw or crawlin crab for good seafood! The XoXo lounge for the great aesthetic. Studio movie grill for good food, service and a nice show located in Arlington, Tx! Ripleys believe it or not for a fun and interactive experience! Six flags over Texas for amazing thrills! The Cheesecake Factory also located in Arlington, Tx for amazing cheesecake and bomb Louisiana pasta! The rim also has amazing wings ! To DIE for
