We had the good fortune of connecting with Christia Rogers and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
After I completed my licensure, I worked in mental health hospitals and agencies. I was passionate about helping people, but I was frustrated by the large caseloads and the lack of individualized attention that clients received. I wanted to create a center that would provide smaller groups and more personalized care.

I have a background in education, and I believed that this experience would be valuable in developing programs that would help clients succeed in their treatment and return to school or work. I also knew that I wanted to create a welcoming and supportive environment where clients would feel comfortable sharing their experiences and working towards their goals.

I started by researching the needs of mental health clients in my community. I talked to therapists, social workers, and other professionals who worked with clients with mental illness. I also talked to clients themselves. I learned that many clients felt lost and alone, and they struggled to find the resources they needed to get better.

I also learned that there was a need for a center that offered mentorship and training for provisional licensed and fully licensed clinicians. I developed the LPC-Associate Academy and mentorship program, where clinicians have a supportive learning environment to develop their psychotherapy skillset and discover their niche areas of practice.

With this information in mind, I began to develop a plan for my center. I found a space to rent, and I started to hire staff. I also began to develop programs and services that would meet the needs of my clients.

My center opened its doors in 2012. Since then, we have helped hundreds of clients get better. We have helped them develop positive emotional health, create healthy mindsets and enhance emotional intelligence. We have also helped them connect with others and build a sense of community.

I am proud of what we have accomplished at my center. I believe that we are making a difference in the lives of our clients. We are helping them to ‘Be the change that they want to see’.

What should our readers know about your business?
Bridges to Crossroads Counseling & IOP Care (BTCC) is a mental health center that focuses on mental wellness. We offer individualized treatment plans that help clients achieve a balanced transformation of the mind, body, and spirit.

Our mission is to stimulate self-reflection and well-being, so that clients can overcome problematic thinking, feeling, and behaviors. When we can help clients overcome these maladaptive behaviors, it leads to a deeper and clearer understanding of their own inner thought processes. Our vision is to create a future of positive emotional health for our clients (mental wealth). BTCC’s programming helps clients learn to change their mindset, expand problem-solving skills, develop self-advocacy, and self-awareness. These skills will enhance clients’ environments and communities.

I believe that our vision for helping people heal is what sets us apart from other mental health organizations. We offer individualized treatment plans that are tailored to each client’s unique needs. We also offer a wide range of services, from trauma support to life coaching.

My proudest moment was becoming an accredited organization with the Joint Commission in 2022. This is a prestigious designation that is awarded to only the highest-quality health care organizations. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team.

It has not been easy to get to this point. I still have to pinch myself sometimes and say, “Cee, you are the CEO of your own company with employees!” There has been a lot of trial and error, especially on the business side. There are some things that I didn’t know, and I had to read up on them or ask for help. I am a recovering control freak, LOL! But even those who seem to have it all together are still working on themselves. I will always be a student of business, leadership, and clinical skills.

I am all about inclusivity. I believe that everyone deserves to feel supported and accepted, regardless of their background or circumstances. I am committed to creating a healthy state of self, love, and community. I believe that we can all make a difference in the world by being the change we want to see in the world.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite spots in the city vary depending on my mood and who I’m with. I really love the Addison area, especially during the spring and summer when there are so many great events happening, like The Taste of Addison and Kaboom Town.

I love great food and drinks, so I’m always on the lookout for new brunch spots. Some of my favorites include Stirr in Addison, Mattito’s on Oak Lawn, and The Henry’s N Akard.

When the weather is nice, my friends and I love to enjoy the outdoors. We’ll often go boating or tubing on Lake Lewisville or Joe Pool Lake. We might also try to squeeze in an escape room adventure.

For a night out, we’ll usually head to Deep Ellum, The Mitchell, or Oak Lawn. And of course, no night out is complete without karaoke! If we’re feeling lazy, we’ll just set up our karaoke machine at home.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to take this opportunity to thank my Framily (Friends that became Family) who are true Diamonds in my life. I am so grateful for the life, love, and loyalty that they have shown me. They have become my safe space on and off the field.

My friend and mentor has guided me through clinical work to a Power House business. I am so grateful for their support and guidance.

My brother, sister, mother, and son have always been my cheerleaders. They have always been there for me, no matter what. I am so lucky to have them in my life.

Finally, I would like to thank my wife, Sandee Sampson. She is one of the smartest and most loving people I know. She has taught me so much about expanding my knowledge to an entirely new level. Sandee has been a catalyst along my journey to health, wealth, and abundance.

I am so grateful for all of you in my life. You are my Diamonds.
