We had the good fortune of connecting with Chloe Carter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chloe, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
One of my favorite go-to quotes is “you’ll catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.” Kindness and approachability both go a long way when it comes to business relationships, entrepreneurship and networking. You can be the smartest person on a team or in a room, but if you lack basic emotional intelligence and empathy, you’ll find it difficult to grow in your career. Relationships are so central to business and career success; it’s impossible to reach the next level without first mastering the art of kindness and emotional intelligence.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Becoming a global marketing strategist for a major tech company was no easy feat, but I wouldn’t change anything about my marketing career/journey! I went to Case Western Reserve University (in Cleveland) to study biomedical engineering but quickly realized that engineering wasn’t the right fit. I ended up graduating with a degree in biology and anthropology
Not long after, I began pursuing a career in marketing. I’ve had a number of marketing roles across well-known companies/brands and numerous industries (e.g., publishing, media, nonprofit, government financial services, technology).

After graduating with my MBA, I joined Capital One, where I was a marketing strategist and campaign manager at the Commercial Bank. In these roles, I developed the marketing strategy for various lines of business, including the Healthcare, Technology/Media/Telecom, Energy, and Commercial Real Estate financing teams. I oversaw the strategy for several large-scale events and receptions and executed one of the largest digital marketing campaigns the bank had ever launched. In 2021, I started as a Campaign Manager on the Global Marketing team at AWS (Amazon Web Services). AWS provides cloud computing services to companies, governments, and individuals. I develop and execute large-scale global marketing campaigns supporting various AWS initiatives and solutions. Very exciting but complex work!

I’ve overcome challenges and setbacks by reminding myself of my “why”, remembering why I love my work, being intentional about work/life balance, and not getting caught up in temporary feelings of frustration or stress! Every new day presents a new opportunity to be a better version of myself.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am still relatively new to the DFW area having only been in Dallas 14 months, but I am a food and coffee lover! One of my favorite weekend activities is visiting local DFW coffee shops to experience different neighborhoods and find the best cup of joe. You can find my DFW coffee series on TikTok (#chloecoffees). I’m also always on the hunt for the best barbeque and tacos in town. My personal favorites at the moment are Chilangos Tacos and Hutchins BBQ in Frisco. I spent last Sunday in Ennis to check out the bluebonnet trails, and it was definitely the most peaceful, calming time I’ve had in a while.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to recognize the Forte Foundation for their continuous efforts to empower the next generation of women leaders in the business world. They provide women equal access to an infrastructure– business education, role models, professional networks, and leadership training– so they can change their career trajectories and earning power. I was a member of the inaugural MBALaunch class in 2013. Without this program and the encouragement of my other female peers in Washington, DC, I might not have had the confidence and preparation to enter business school (Georgetown McDonough) in 2016.
