We had the good fortune of connecting with Charlie White and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Charlie, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?

To be patient. I believe in action! There’s a quote that’s been accredited to various people that says, “a ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for.” To move the needle forward in life, one must make waves and seek out opportunity. And many of times a person must make opportunity where opportunity isn’t there. So again, there is a time and place for patience, but there is also certainly a time and place for action.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

I do a lot of exciting things; I am entrepreneur by nature. I work as a National Director of Business Development and Clinical Outreach for Montare Behavioral Health, a behavioral health company based out of California with locations in Arizona as well. Currently, I am leading the efforts for Trellis Recovery Centers for Eating Disorders, our new residential eating disorder treatment center in Los Angeles, California for girls ages twelve through seventeen. I enjoy marketing and developing the program, but more importantly helping families find care for their loved ones, at our programs or elsewhere.

I also own The Char Network, a small business focused on helping other businesses grow. We partner with businesses to market, manage and develop their products and services. This includes business development, designing websites and marketing materials, social media growth and overall network expansion.

In addition to The Char Network, I also co-founded the 501c3 nonprofit, Eyes Not Forgotten. In 2021, ENF began a refreshed mission dedicated to empowering individuals affected by mental health. ENF offers funding assistance to persons in need of inpatient or outpatient treatment.

I think a common theme in my life is around helping others. Life can be difficult at times, or even at many stages in a person’s life. And while each of us have unique struggles, collectively we can help one another overcome those struggles…together. That togetherness is humanity at work.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

My partner and I spend our time between Dallas, Texas and Lake Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Dallas is a diverse city with so many neighborhoods and pockets to discover. Some of our favorite areas are the Dallas Design District, Highland Park Village and Uptown Dallas.

Visit the Dallas Design District to explore local art and design galleries. ALG Collective, Samuel Lynne and Ferrari Gallery are three of our favorite galleries. There are also other artists throughout DFW, such as Cerulean Gallery in University Park and independent artists like Janak Narayan, an incredible South Asian fine artist. And if you’re in the Design District, make reservations at The Mexican or Tango Room for dinner. There is a Virgin Hotel in the area too, which is great for summer pool parties.

Highland Park Village is a must for designer goods – the “Rodeo Drive” of Dallas. If you prefer vintage clothing and accessories, check out Vintage Martini just a few minutes away. I’d also recommend stopping by Lounge 31 or Monkey Bar atop Mi Cocina on the weekends.

The uptown area is packed with restaurants! Ascension Coffee is great for work meetings or a quick snack, Moxies and Happiest Hour are ideal for sporting events, Nobu or Uchi for sushi, and Sixty Vines for both lunch and dinner. I’d also highly recommend visiting Las Palmas and Bowen House, two locally owned restaurants.

And don’t forget the Katie Trail. The trail runs throughout Dallas. It’s great for walking, jogging, biking, and your pets will love it too!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this story to my partner of almost four years, Ricardo Mancia. He is an ISSA certified personal trainer and nutritionist, as well as a Body Positive certified personal trainer. He offers services in-person in the Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas and virtual services nationwide. He’s an incredibly hardworking person and a small business owner like me. I admire his will to succeed, but more importantly his love for helping others.
