We had the good fortune of connecting with Carley Marsteller and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carley, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I quit my job as an attorney to pursue Stellar full time, and it was absolutely terrifying! I wasn’t fully fulfilled as an attorney, but at the same time it was the career I had worked my entire life towards, so to give that up to start a balloon business was wild! But at the end of the day I am so much happier and that’s what really matters.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am currently the founder and CEO of Stellar Creations, LLC, but I never set out to own an event decor business and retail party shop! I am an attorney who was extremely unhappy in the practice of law and was looking for something that would make me excited to go to work in the mornings when I happened to get into the “balloon world!” I had balloons at my wedding in April of 2019 and from then on was fascinated with balloon styling so I decided to start my own side hustle! Quickly the demand for balloons took me from side hustle to quitting my job as an attorney to pursue Stellar full time!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I was born in Fort Worth and absolutely LOVE this city! When we have friends come into town from out of state we always take them to Heim Barbecue in the River District because the food is amazing and the atmosphere is so laid back and fun. Another fun place to go is Maple & Branch Brewery! Their outdoor garden area is huge, and they also have some of the best beers! A trip to Fort Worth also wouldn’t be complete without a stop in the Stockyards and a stroll through Sundance Square in Downtown!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to my husband, Kevin. He has always believed in me and was completely supportive in my decision to quit my attorney job to pursue this business and it means more to me than he’ll ever know! I’d also like to thank my parents for supporting me as well and helping me in any way they can! My dad helped drive the trailer to big jobs before I had the Balloon Bus and my mom always helps me run last minute errands when I need them! Love you all!
