Hi Candace, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I want my legacy to be twofold: first, as someone who dedicated her life to nurturing and uplifting children, leaving a positive imprint on each young life I’ve encountered. I want to be remembered as the educator who believed in the potential of every child, empowering them to strive for greatness and pursue their dreams.

Secondly, I want to leave a legacy for my daughters—one that illustrates the power of resilience, determination, and the endless possibilities available to them as Black women. I hope to be a shining example for them, showing them that with perseverance and hard work, they can achieve anything they set their minds to. I want them to remember me as a role model who broke barriers, shattered stereotypes, and paved the way for them to follow in my footsteps, knowing that they too can make a significant impact on the world around them.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

In a world where the educational landscape is as diverse as it is challenging, we stand out for our unwavering commitment to raising the bar of academic excellence, especially for children of color. I founded Empress Education, to be a beacon of hope and a testament to what is possible when passion meets purpose.

Empress Education is not your typical academic consulting firm. At its core, it operates on the belief in the unlimited potential of every child, regardless of their background. This belief is not just lip service; it is the foundation upon which all of Empress Education’s strategies and services are built. By leveraging data-driven instruction and a deep dedication to the communities they serve, Empress Education has made significant strides in supporting the growth and development of networks that cater to the educational needs of students.

The impact of Empress Education’s work is both significant and measurable. By saving campus administrators nearly 100 hours of coaching time, Empress Education has streamlined the process of educational leadership and management. Moreover, Empress Education’s consulting services have directly impacted the growth of over 500 students and has managed to double state assessment scores. In the high-stakes world of educational assessments, this achievement cannot be overstated.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’d begin our morning at Black Coffee, savoring some of the finest brews to fuel our day ahead. With our energy replenished, we’d head to the Fort Worth Museum for a dose of culture and exploration.

After soaking in the museum’s exhibits, we’d work up an appetite and head to Joe T. Garcia’s for a Tex-Mex feast fit for royalty. We’d indulge in their legendary margaritas, accompanied by crispy chips, flavorful salsa, and sizzling fajitas.

With satisfied appetites, we’d embark on a playful detour to Cidercade, an adult arcade offering an array of cider options and classic arcade games. We’d unleash our inner child as we compete in friendly matches and enjoy the lively ambiance.

To cap off our day with a culinary flourish, we’d make our way to Velvet Taco, where creative tacos await to tantalize our taste buds. We’d sample an array of unique taco creations, savoring each delicious bite as we reminisce about the unforgettable day we’ve had in Fort Worth.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I owe a debt of gratitude to several key individuals who have played integral roles in my journey to success. Foremost, I want to thank my parents for instilling in me the values of hard work, perseverance, and belief in oneself. Their unwavering support and example of dedication have been the foundation upon which I’ve built my accomplishments.

Next, I want to express my deepest appreciation to my daughters. They are my driving force, my motivation to strive for excellence every day. Knowing that they are watching me pushes me to work tirelessly to be the best role model I can be for them. They inspire me to reach for the stars and never settle for less than I’m capable of achieving.

I also want to acknowledge my significant other for his unwavering support and encouragement. Their belief in me has been a source of strength, giving me the courage to take risks, pursue my dreams, and even start my own consulting firm. They are my rock, my confidant, and my greatest source of inspiration.

To all of these incredible individuals, my family, friends, and coworkers, I am eternally grateful for the part you’ve played in my successes. Your love, guidance, and belief in me have shaped me into the person I am today, and for that, I am forever thankful.
