We had the good fortune of connecting with Brooke Dryden and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brooke, what is the most important factor behind your success?
If it wasn’t for my tight-knit community, The Little Hippie Boutique wouldn’t be where it is! Sometimes, I wasn’t seeing the fruits of my labor, and the bank account was dwindling. However, family members encouraged me and reminded me that it takes time for fruit to grow when we sow seeds. In other words, I need to be patient and not rush the process (just enjoy the moments of the business). I’ve had friends, my sister and husband attend vendor events to set up and tear down my displays with me so I wouldn’t have to do it alone. Even people I don’t know, as well as my inner circle community, have taken it upon themselves to support my business by shopping, telling others about it,  giving me insight on other events to participate in, and helping stretch my creativity with future product ideas! Without these amazing people, I wouldn’t be where I am today, let alone the business gaining momentum and doors opening up!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
At The Little Hippie Boutique, we are not just jewelry and accessories; we have a purpose behind the design! The majority of our handmade items can be paired with essential oils. Whether it’s leather earrings, bracelets with lava beads, or car charms with wooden beads, you can incorporate your favorite aromatherapy wherever you go!
I started trying to figure out a great way to consistently utilize essential oils in my daily routines. I always wear jewelry and can find myself driving to and from work, running errands, or going out for fun. With this in mind, I wanted to create something functional and beautiful. So, I designed bracelets and car charms to easily add a drop or two of my favorite oils for on the go.

The business has evolved, and hinting at our name, I’ve also started adding retro and Hippie products such as more traditional macrame, creating strategic knots to make something beautiful, and hand dyeing.
I am most excited to see where the business goes next! I currently have a full-time job, and the boutique has been a labor of love that recently has evolved into a more consistent second job. I only started it so I wasn’t hoarding all my new creations, and now it has taken on a whole new meaning in my life!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have been in the same area my whole life and still have so much to discover and venture, but I am a sucker for coffee or matcha. Our trip would have to start with a coffee stop, but not your everyday coffee shop. It would have to be only local to that area! Here in Wylie, we have a few great ones in downtown, like Coffee at the Hub and Shoemaker & Hart, but McKinney has my favorite coffee shop, Habitat Plants + Coffee!
From there, we would travel to a farmers market, vendor event, or downtown area of a nearby city and spend the rest of the day discovering new small businesses!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my family, Book Club and my husband Josh. I couldn’t do ANY of this without them!
