We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittney Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittney, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was FREEDOM. I use to dread going to work, clocking in, and spending my entire day at a job and not being paid my worth. I was miserable, stressed and tired of making someone else rich. I wanted to break free from having to clock in to someone’s job and create my own business, create my own schedule, and service people my way. I thoroughly enjoy doing what I do. I wanted to show my kids that you don’t have to work for anyone to be successful.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a makeup- artist who loves a simple, soft, and subtle look which sets me apart from others, I always tell my clients less is more. I also love to teach my clients the importance of skincare and how to maintain healthy skin under their makeup. My clients plays a part in how I got here because of “word of mouth” and my professionalism. I’m not where I want to be but to get here was definitely a struggle. The lessons I’ve learned during this journey is to have patience, remain consistent, and celebrate the small wins. I want the world to know that Brittney J Artistry & Skincare caters to all things beauty

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m pretty simple and I like doing simple things, I would take my friend to painting with a twist in cedar hill, or to studio movie grill for a movie and dinner. A bar down in deep ellum or lower Greenville to bar hop. I would also take them to eat my favorite food which is seafood at shell shack. Punch bowl social for some drinks and to play adult games.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My biggest supporter who has played a huge part in me stepping out on faith and starting my own business definitely goes to my husband Calvin Jackson. He has pushed me, cheered me on, uplifted me when I wanted to give up, invested in me, and just changed my entire outlook on entrepreneurship. So to my husband thank you and I appreciate everything you’ve done and are doing love.
