We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittnee Thornton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittnee, what role has risk played in your life or career?
To be honest, I feel like my entire adult life has been a series of risk and decisions based on risk. I’ve moved across the country several times. Lived in too many cities to count. I’ve switched careers, started a business, been married and divorced. Lost 100lbs, earned two college degrees, and raised my children as a single parent for the majority of their lives. And, for the most part – I’ve done all of this on my own.
What I’ve learned about risk taking is this, willingness to take risk is at the forefront of personal success. When we’re willing to take risk, we never wonder “what if.” I used to live in the “what if” space and I was miserable. I made a vow to myself about 10 years ago that I’d stop surviving and moving throughout life based on fear. And, that I’d begin living life fearlessly and based on faith. And, I love it here. Life is good.
What should our readers know about your business?
Well, I’m a humanitarian at heart. I worked in the Human Services field for 17 years before switching careers to Real Estate. So, carrying those practices into my Real Estate business has been seamless. My brand “From Dreams to Keys” represents the dream of homeownership, financial security, and personal wealth. And my ability to be an intricate part in making that a reality. For most, buying a home and even selling a home – feels like a daunting task. My ability to empathize with my clients through life stressors, while navigating this very unique market makes my approach as a Realtor different. I’ve worked with relocating clients, families in distress, newlyweds, and even families with young children. You name it, I’ve probably worked with them.
I have the pleasure of “wearing two hats” in Real Estate. I also serve as the Director of Business Development for my Brokerage, The Morine Group Realtors. In this capacity I’m tasked with expanding our footprint in the community. I work on the recruiting side, bringing on new Real Estate agents and connecting our Brokerage through awareness projects, public speaking, community engagement, and developing professionals in Real Estate.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh man… we’re definitely getting tacos and corn in a cup from Fuel City. Has to be my favorite place to get tacos! I love to workout – so, I’d probably take them to workout with me at MetroFlex in Arlington. My trainer would gladly “beat us up” for an hour or so. If we want a nice dinner… Al Beirnat’s in Dallas. I LOVE their steak! And, my favorite brunch spot… Moxie’s. Mimosa’s are so good! Lastly, for the live music and lounge vibe, we’d probably go to Lava Cantina in The Colony on Sunday afternoon.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My kids. I know it sounds cliche, but my children are my reason why I sacrifice, why I pursue, and why I keep going. They think I’m “famous” because my picture is on a business card and do public speaking engagements. (haha!) They tell their friends that their mom is “famous” and it’s the most hilarious, yet sweetest, and most innocent gesture.
Also, my sister – she’s been my personal cheerleader and steps in at ANY given moment to be my personal videographer and photographer. Not to mention, she’s THE BEST hype-(wo)man EVER!
