We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittany, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Creating has always been something that brings me so much joy. I’ve loved the arts for as long as I can remember—it’s a part of who I am. Photography and art have become more than just hobbies or work for me; they’ve turned into ways I connect with people, work through emotions, tell stories, and hopefully make a small difference in someone’s life.

There’s something really special about creating from the heart. When you’re creating something from your heart-whether it’s a photo capturing a fleeting expression of love or laughter between family members or a quiet, thoughtful look from a curious child- you are tapping into something deeper. You are translating feelings, moments and experiences into something tangible and lasting. It’s about turning everyday feelings and connections into something you can hold onto.

Out of all the session types I offer—families, engagements, couples, children’s milestones, and newborns—the ones that really speak to me the most are lifestyle sessions and images. These are all about capturing people as they truly are. Real emotions, real connections—nothing overly posed or forced. I love documenting the way a family laughs together, the quiet in-between moments, or the way a child’s personality shines through in the little things. Life moves so quickly, and I think people really value having those genuine moments to hold onto—moments that reflect what this season really looked and felt like for them. What makes these sessions extra meaningful for me is knowing I’m not just creating for myself. I’m giving families a way to see their own love and connection through someone else’s eyes. And that’s a really powerful thing. It’s an honor I don’t take lightly.

Painting and drawing have always been something I’ve loved, and recently, I’ve found a way to bring that side of my creativity into my photography work. I now offer fine art pieces based on the photos from my sessions—and it’s been such a fun and meaningful way to combine both of my passions. It gives my clients something a little extra… something timeless and totally unique to them. Being able to create in this way—through both photography and painting—has been such a joy. It keeps me inspired and gives me a real sense of purpose in the work I do.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Before I transitioned into full-time motherhood and launching my photography business, I spent ten years in the education field as an elementary school teacher. Those years gave me more than just professional experience—they gave me perspective, patience, and a deep understanding of how to truly connect with people, especially children.

My background plays a big part in how I approach photography today. I understand that photo sessions can sometimes feel a little overwhelming—especially for kids. That’s why I focus on creating a relaxed, fun environment where everyone can just be themselves. I don’t rush sessions or stack back-to-back mini shoots. Instead, I prefer to take the time to really get to know each family, couple, or child. Building trust before I even pick up the camera is so important to me.

Of course, when I first started my business, there was definitely a learning curve. Spending a whole school year getting to know kids is very different from connecting in a short 45-minute session. But I’ve found that with a little creativity (and a lot of patience), it’s totally possible to create that same comfort in a short time.

For kids, that might mean we play “Red Light, Green Light,” go on a flower hunt, blow bubbles, dance it out, or just get silly together. I want them to have fun and forget they’re being photographed. For couples, I offer simple prompts that help them connect naturally and let real emotions come through.

My goal during a photo session is always to capture something real and authentic. Moments that are joyful, genuine, and completely unique to the people in front of my lens.

What sets me apart is the way I combine my background in education with my passion for storytelling. I’m most proud of the experience I create—not just the final photos, but the feeling clients leave with. It’s about more than pictures. It’s about memories, emotional connection, and having fun in the process!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I was born and raised in the DFW area, and while it’s great having Dallas and Fort Worth nearby with so much to do, I’ve always been more of a small-town girl at heart. I’d take a quiet country road and a field full of wildflowers over city traffic and parking garages any day!

One of the best parts of having my photography business is that it gives me a reason to get out and explore. I love finding little hidden spots—creeks, waterfalls, parks—just peaceful places to enjoy nature and maybe snap a few photos! It’s the simple things that make me happiest.

I also really enjoy walking around places like the Denton Square and downtown McKinney. I love browsing little boutiques and antique shops and grabbing a bite to eat on a rooftop or a cozy patio.

But honestly, my favorite place lately is right in my own backyard—downtown Celina. Even though it’s growing fast, it still feels like a small town where people know each other and say hello. The community here is something special, and I’m so thankful my kids get to grow up in a place like this. It’s the kind of place where memories are made—Friday night lights, holiday and homecoming parades, farmers markets, and neighbors who wave as you pass by. In my opinion, it’s the best place to be!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, I want to thank God for leading me on this path. He showed me that I had abilities and a creativity that could bring joy to others and give me a deep sense of purpose.

Building a business is not easy, and I could not have come this far without the support, encouragement, and love of my family, friends, and community.

To my husband—thank you for gifting me my first camera shortly after we were married 13 years ago. You inspired me to grow, and you continually believe in my abilities. You’ve been my biggest (behind-the-scenes) encourager, offering constant and unwavering support—especially during this season of growth. Your flexibility with last-minute sessions and juggling weekend plans with the kids has helped tremendously, and I’m so grateful for all the ways you make this dream possible.

To my three amazing kids—you’ve been my little location scouts, cheerleaders, and editing buddies. Your excitement over discovering hidden location gems and your willingness to let me practice on you in the early days helped shape the photographer I am today.

A special thank-you to my sister—your consistent encouragement has been such a blessing. You’ve lifted me up during moments of doubt and have gone out of your way to share my work and grow my client base. You are truly a gift, and I’m endlessly thankful for you.

To my friends—especially those who believed in me when I was just finding my style and confidence—your belief in me gave me motivation to continue learning and growing and meant more than you could possibly know.

To my amazing clients who gave me a chance when I was just starting out—your trust helped build the foundation of this business. And to those who return year after year, I’m so grateful. It’s a joy to witness your families grow and to build those lasting connections through photography.

And finally, to the creative DFW photography community—thank you for pushing me to grow and for reminding me that there is always more to learn.

I wouldn’t be here without all of you! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
