We had the good fortune of connecting with Briana and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Briana, what role has risk played in your life or career?
For me, risk-taking has never been about being reckless—it’s been about trusting myself even when the outcome isn’t guaranteed. One of the biggest risks I took was leaving a traditional job in the medical field to pursue dance full time. That decision meant walking away from financial stability and the security of a conventional career, all while raising my child as a single parent. On top of the financial uncertainty, dance also carries physical risks—pushing my body, working through injuries, and constantly training to stay sharp.

Those risks were real, but they’ve also been the most rewarding part of my journey. The financial leap taught me to be resourceful and entrepreneurial, while the physical demands reminded me of the discipline and resilience it takes to succeed. Looking back, risk-taking has been the thread that turned my passion into a career and helped me grow not just as a professional, but as a parent and a person.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart is the path I’ve taken to get here. I left a stable career to follow my passion for dance, even as a single parent facing financial and physical risks. Many people thought I was making the wrong choice and tried to talk me out of it, but I trusted myself enough to move forward.

It wasn’t easy, but every challenge taught me resilience, creativity, and the value of staying true to my vision. I’m most proud that I’ve built a career doing what I love while showing my child—and others—that it’s possible to take risks, overcome doubt, and create your own path. I want the world to know that my story—and my brand—is about courage, perseverance, and helping others discover their confidence and joy through movement.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, we would definitely have to start our day with coffee and a pastry at either Avoca or Cherry Coffee on Magnolia Avenue. Then I would take them to Meow wolf at the Grapevine Mills mall for sure because it is just the coolest place or we would walk around all the shops at Clearfork. We’d probably have dinner at Wabi House or The Pantry on Magnolia Avenue and then walk over to Melt or Insomnia cookies for dessert. And of course we’d have to go dancing at a country bar like Hoots Hall or Guitars and Cadillacs and do some Latin dancing at DanceMakers of Texas for sure.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have been blessed with amazing mentors at DanceMakers of Texas that believe in me and push me to be the best dancer and instructor that I can be. They are Amanda Brown, Lisa Holt, Isreal Pena, and Jerry Robles. And I’d have to say that my daughter is my biggest cheerleader and my main source of motivation.
