We had the good fortune of connecting with Breanna Dorsey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Breanna, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Without great risk, their is no great reward. I’ve always believed in this statement and understood to get to where I wanted to be, I was going to have to do the things no one was willing to do and put it all on the line because I knew it was worth it. It’s super scary, and sometimes I’m like why did I even do this? I could have a much simpler life taking the path I’ve seen alot of people do, but something in me always says “Keep Going” and I do. I’ve won and loss, but I’ve learned. Taking risks can be frightening, but totally essential to reach new heights.

By moving to New York City, I took a huge risk on myself, and it wasn’t easy at all. The first two months I was so in shock and overwhelmed. The culture was so different and the pace was so fast, but it was always my dream and I knew deep down it my heart this is where I wanted to be. I’ve faced so many ups and downs to having no clients for a period of time, not feeling confident in myself or my work and having to overcome people who thought I wouldn’t make it through. I had to get up everyday and just know I was trying my best and continue my own journey because I wanted to work for myself and make my own money. I lost my job, left my old firm and so much more but I knew if I believed in me that was all that matter. I put this same effort of energy and belief into every client I work with because if you don’t belibe it how can they? We strive to plan our goals and reach them week by week, that’s the work it takes to be where you want to be!

What should our readers know about your business?
My business is the Twelve O Sox Agency, a place where artists, small business owners and small brands can come and learn more about the PR and branding world! We believe Impactful storytelling is so important for our clients, it’s our motto! We want to help your audience understand and identify with your music or product, it’s so essential to longevity.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love to go anywhere the food is good and the vibes are right! Palms has definitely been a great spot that I love to go to recently! It’s always a good time and the music is so good.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people that I have to attribute my success to. My mother, who taught me everything I know. My close friends who boost my confidence. My brother who keeps me humble. Everyone who has ever posted my business or supported me I’m so grateful! God has been so good and I’m so excited for the future!
