Meet Brandi Edwards | Chef/Entrepreneur/Teacher/Writer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandi Edwards and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brandi, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Well as a kid I enjoyed sitting in the kitchen as my mom cooked. She would let me try almost everything and I grew to love it. It was my safe space plus having the opportunity to learn became a necessity as I got older. I started cooking more often and receiving compliments as I got better. I gained enough confidence in believing that I could do this more often but hadn’t really thought about do it on a more professional level. My younger sister would attempt to talk me into starting a business but I’d make up excuses until she passed in 2021, I promised that I’d start my business as a way to honor her but also have fun doing it.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have always been a creative soul not only through painting and decorating areas but also through cooking. Cooking is an art where I can show who I am and where I came from. I am excited mostly about the flavors that come to mind because when I finally make these flavors, people love them. There are so many things that I’ve learned about business but the main thing is that not everyone will love your food and that’s okay. No matter how many supporters or customers I’ve had, I kept going and learned new ways of marketing. Staying active on socials has been the hardest hurdle for me and recording myself cooking has been hard as well. I am proud of how far I’ve come with business and getting the opportunity to share with others is a blessing.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There is so much to explore in Texas but I have favorites. We would start the day off with breakfast/brunch at “Social House”, “Yolk” ,or “Mimi’s Café” . The best place for drinks would Torchy’s or Buffalo Bros and we would also catch a few games here too! There are other good lunch places but I’d take them to “Smokaholics” to get the best BBQ in Fort Worth. To catch up I’d want to go somewhere a little quieter for dinner like “The Rim” in Burleson.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My story is definitely about the people who supported my business throughout the way. I would like to shoutout my sisters, my friends, my adopted family and customers .
