We had the good fortune of connecting with Bone 1 and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bone 1, what role has risk played in your life or career?
We take risks since birth… I’ve always gone against the grain. I’ve taken risks that most people wouldn’t take. Taking risks has pushed my art and my business further than I ever thought it would. I’ve been able to travel to places just to paint and make ART. Met a lot of cool people along the way.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Ive been hustlin’ since a teenager. Selling sunglasses, selling DVDs etc. and selling my art as much as I could. My business is custom painting. I do my own artwork but I also help others turn their vision into reality. Its fun for me. Its what im great at. Its my niche. I found it early. I love it!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Deep Ellum for sure! I love deep ellum. When I was getting into graffiti and painting as a youngster, I was stoked that dallas had that scene. Even if it wasnt like other big cities, I was happy that we had that here at home. Maybe some country too..
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to ME. Haha. I believed in my work since day 1. I knew I wanted to paint forever.. I do want to say a BIG THANK YOU to the “BigThought” non-profit organization here in Dallas. As an “at risk” youth getting trouble all the time, they gave me an oppurtunity at 15yrs old to learn fine art at Southern Methodist University. I went from illegal graffiti to fine art and business at such a young age. Its my career now.
