We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeff Buster and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jeff, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I feel there are several important factors behind our success. It’s almost cliche at this point but #1 is to treat others as you would like to be treated. After all, sometimes the guy with the broom is the CEO. Second is don’t let ANYONE determine what you will be or how you will get there. There are a lot of people out there that simply cannot do what we do so they try to project their negativity. I say NO, we will rise above, we will win, and we will do it with integrity and class.

What should our readers know about your business?
It has been a long hard road to get from being a full-time single dad to becoming a fairly successful business owner of a rapidly growing company. I think what really sets us apart in business is a no BS policy. We shoot straight all the time. I am not a suit and tie kinda guy. We get out there, side by side, with our customers. We get dirty when we need to, troubleshoot, and out service just about anyone in our field. I always say “we aren’t here to sell anything, simply get you what you need”. Many of our challenges stem from being a small fish in a very big pond. Multi-billion a year companies that have the ability to do whatever they want. That is also why we win sometimes, a lot of these huge companies forget where they came from and it shows in their service level. Lessons I have learned along the way would be: Don’t give up, Do the next right thing, Walk in the next door, and Never forget where you came from. I would like the world to know that there are still companies that treat people right, that really do care, that strive to do the right thing, that aren’t scared of hard work and when you trust Buster’s Industrial to make it happen you will not be dissapointed…Just ask around!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love live music and used to play out myself as a drummer, so I definitely would go to a hole in the wall club to see a crazy loud punk / Rock band and have a few drinks. Maybe Lolas in FTW. Definitely hit Po V Noodle in Bedford for the Yellow Curry Pho (If you haven’t had it you are missing out)! I would also stop in at the Chop Shop In Hurst to see Che & maybe over to see Desso & crew at Virtuoso Tattoo. ALL cool places!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Well, it certainly took a lot to get where I am from where I started. I would say My Mom Stephanie Rotthaus who I speak with every morning, Glen Bulawaka for being a great mentor, and Nicole Gordon and Brian McGowan as support to keep things running on a daily basis. The best book I read that really helped me get started was “The Richest Man In Babylon”. Last but certainly not least ALL of the fantastic customers that trust us to take care of their needs and keep things running smoothly.
