We had the good fortune of connecting with Anita Ivancevic and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anita, how do you think about risk?
You have to be willing to take risks in order to succeed, period. But beyond just taking the risks, you have to be willing to pivot and adapt. There is no way of sugar coating the risks involved with starting your own company and managing it. No matter how much you believe you have researched your industry and how good your business plan is there will always be some mitigating factor or market conditions that you may not have accounted for and/or anticipated. 2020 has been a prime example of this as it’s left nearly every business, across every industry, including ours with the question of how do we adapt and still provide value to our clients in the midst of a global pandemic? Had it not been for the risks we as a company have learned to take and grow from early on, I don’t know how well we would have been able to adapt to this unprecedented climate. In the early phases of Dallas Gift Wrap Creations, there was a LOT of trial and error; figuring out what works and what doesn’t. We learned that you have to be willing to test things out, put it out there in order to see how your target consumers will react. And then, learn from it, adapt and implement that which is most effective. Lastly, we’ve learned that you need to check your ego at the door, or better yet leave it at home because you can’t be too married to any certain notion of how you believe your business will work.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am incredibly proud of where we are as a company, even in the midst of an incredibly challenging year, we have expanded our operations to a brand new showroom located in the Dallas Market Center. When I founded the company, I could have never imagined that we would be in our second location within 5 years and traveling across the country wrapping our client’s gifts. I love and adore each of our clients and I am forever grateful for the opportunities to be of service to them in ensuring that their special events are momentous and memorable occasions through the art of gift wrapping.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am a HUGE fan of frequenting and supporting businesses owned by kind people who take pride in what they do and treat you like family. My absolute favorite place to eat in Dallas is Parigi! If you haven’t eaten there or had the privilege of meeting Janice Provost, you’re missing out! You also have to be sure to check out Cryo1, a cryo studio owned by Kelly Carden. It is phenomenal for your whole body. For the mind, you have to check out Breathe, a meditation studio on Lomo Alto. We live in such a hectic world, that we have to take time out for ourselves to meditate and reflect. For looking your best, you HAVE to go to Ovme and see my girl Angela and LuxTan on Lemmon for the perfect glow. For dinner, Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse or Sēr at the Hilton Anatole and for the best drinks and vibe in Dallas, The Ivy owned by Lisa and Elia Georgalis.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Dallas Gift Wrap Creations would not be where it is today if it wasn’t for the unconditional support of my parents, Goran and Nermina Ivancevic. Since day one they have supported my vision for the business and continue to support our growth and where we are headed. Additionally, we wouldn’t be able to meet our client’s needs day in and day out without the dedication and incredible work ethic of our team: Jeremy, Madeleine, Sasha, Sophie, Preston and Jasmine.
