We had the good fortune of connecting with Angelica Gonzalez Weber and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angelica, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
In my first year in business, I have never fully wanted to give up. I have had alot of ups and downs emotionally and fiancially. Being your front and back of house in business is soooo hard! A true turning moment for me was when I was offered what I thought was my dream job, my own design center! A local contractor offered me a full time position with all the creative freedom, a design center that would be mine and flexibility to continue to grow my craft – the catch was it would all be under their name. My brand new company named after my parents would be no more. I lost friendships over my start up, if I just dropped my business for this new job – it would have all been in vain. What would my parents think? Would I just be abondoning this dream for the easy road? The morning I had to give my answer, I still wasn’t sure what I would decide. I received a phone call from a colleague letting me know that a 3 condo project I submitted 3 months prior had been approved! The client was so content that he’d like for me to design all of his investment properties. Easy to say I walked into work that morning and declined the offer for the design center. It was the 2nd best decision I made in 2021.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Nothing about starting your own business is easy, NOTHING lol But I am proud of how far I’ve come in just a year. Design is art, creating a beautiful yet functional space is my goal for every project. I am so honored to be part of each dream project, whether a kitchen, bathroom or designing a nursery for a miracle baby. I want to get to know my client as much as possible, what do they do for fun, do they entertain or go out to socialize, or if they are team Jacob/Team Edward. I like to tailor the design to their needs & personalities – making their home feel like THEIR home and not like a picture from Architectes Digest.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love Dallas!! I would take them out to dinner at The Harbor in Rockwall, Glorias has the best margaritas! After dinner can catch the sunset on a 50ft catamaran with Sailing With Scott. The nightlife is amazing in Dallas! We have to start with Trash Can Punch at the Truck Yard in Lower Greenville, I once met a couple who brought their pet goat! Yes, a goat!! And the goat was wearing a fedora!!!! Then move onto Henderson Ave – this place is lined with the most amazing rooftop venues with spectacular views of Downtown Dallas. Visting. Bishop Arts Districts is definitely a full day, their unique boutiques, yummy food and art instillations are absolute perfection.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Wow this is like an Oscar speech! I have to start with, Nico & Tati themselves, my parents. Their hard work, dedication and perseverance made me who am I today, Their drive to never give up when times got tough inspires me and keeps me going. My siblings, 3 sisters & 1 brother, have my biggest support system – the greatest “hype men” a girl could ever ask for! My friends and colleagues who encouraged me since day 1! Ashley Gentry from Red Branch Realty – talk about always knowing the right thing to say! Patrick & Candance Kelley from PK Floors for believing in me and supporting me in my first year! And I cant forget Jeff Currin, he helped develop my love for tile and the remodeling world which then evolved into discovering my passion for design.
