Meet Angela Chambers | Health and Fitness Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela Chambers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angela, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Embellished Bodies came about after being a job that gave me major anxiety daily. I remember commuting to work daily in tears from the thought of dealing with a job that I was very unhappy at. Working out became an outlet for me that I never imagined would one day lead to me becoming a gym owner. I use to attend several fitness camps and gyms around the metroplex. I started getting results and along with the results came people questioning me. “What do you eat, how many days do you workout, are you a trainer, etc. I was providing people with so much information that one day it clicked. This is what I enjoy doing, why not try it out. Even then I was skeptical due to the lack of information on how to begin as well as the financial stability. The feeling of failure was overwhelming. The idea of leaving my secure income for something I had no idea about was even more overwhelming. I continued to get excited about it and constantly found myself researching and asking other trainers questions and thats when I knew it’s something that I’m passionate about. While I was studying I started out with online only while still working my full time job. I actually launched Embellished Bodies from my work computer. Shortly after two great friends of mine James Edward Earl and Aron Miller reached out to me and asked if I would like to partner help them with there new gym that was soon to open in a month. My immediate reaction was God I hear you, wow! What’s the odds of this opportunity coming to me at this time. In January 2017 I made the decision to leave my job of 13years to purse my unsecured journey as a personal trainer. I learned the bulk of my information from the opportunity I had at Ready Heroes Fitness Camp. After a year of helping them I decided to venture off to grow Embellished Bodies as it was time. I have been so blessed to grow every year. From being a traveling gym to gym trainer to now having a home for Embellished Bodies is such a rewarding feeling. This has been one of the best decision I’ve made in my life.

What should our readers know about your business?
Embellished Bodies is more than a gym. We are truly a family. Although we welcome and have a few men. We have a reputation of having a solid sisterhood. This is not your typical gym. We laugh, we cry, we vent, we have heart to hearts, we lean on and learn from each other. This is what I’ve hear so many reference a safe haven. With so many women in one place the first thing you think is drama. We value ourselves for not having any drama at all. Just a great group of women from all backgrounds that truly uplift, encourage, and inspire each other to be better. It’s so much love hear and it’s so much more to give. It hasn’t been a easy road. In fact there was times I knew for sure I would be heading back to the Corporate America. The money was coming but the bills were. Thank God my significant other was there to have my back. I’ve always loved to make my own living so that was a big deal to me. I did put training on hold for one month to do emergency insurance adjusting for a hurricane in 2017. As soon as I did my inbox was filled with people inquiring about personal training services. It was another confirmation from God telling me this is what I’m suppose to be doing. The hurricane didn’t bring on as much damage as predicted so my assignment was brief. I made enough money in one month to catch up and continue to purse my passion. Once I returned it took off and hasn’t let up since. Over the years I’ve learned with starting your own business there are a few valuable pieces you’ll need. Surround yourself and study successful people in your field. Really study them and whats intriguing about their gym. What sets them apart to be so successful. A solid trustworthy source thats genuine and not afraid to share information. These petty understand it’s enough for everyone and although it may seem we are in competition we are not. Our goal is to support the bigger picture. We understand that we have common interest to help as many people as we can live a better quality of life. They also understand one person can not reach everyone. It takes a village. It’s more important to give than receive. Don’t be afraid to give out information. You will are not loosing anything but pouring into other while faithfully pouring into yourself. Our life isn’t about us but serving others. You will need some direction. A plan on paper is fine. Always write your goals down so you’ll have something to work towards and revert back to. You always want to track your progress, even in business. This is how you know if you need to switch things up or you’re moving in the right direction. Never stop learning and always be open for change as it may add valuable. Embellished Bodies represents living in a mental and physical healthy, fit body. Feeling good about yourself brings confidence, courage, and strength to become the women you ultimately want to be. Embellished Bodies was built from the bottom. I didn’t have any money or anything more than you that want to start a business. All I had was the faith, a will to work, and effort to actually start. You can too.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I personally enjoy places where there isn’t a whole lot going on. Just some chill grown folk vibes if you know what I mean. I’m a foodie so I love visiting different restaurants all around. Depending on their preferred choice of food Clear Fork has some great restaurants and provides a very sleek atmosphere. I would definitely visit Mesero, and Malai kitchen. If sushi is the plan we would go to 7th street Sushi Axiom. If fine fine dining is the plan we would enjoy dinner at Nick and Sam’s. I love day parties and bar hopping in Deep Ellum before the pandemic of course.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I definitely want to shoutout James Edward Earl and Aaron Miller for trusting and believing In me enough to give me the opportunity to learn and grow with them as a team. I would also like to shoutout all my clients that trusted me from the very beginning as we all learned to together. They never questioned my advice and most are still with me rocking to the wheels fall off. Last I would like to shoutout my family friends, clients, supporters, and social media followers for sharing every post, passing on information, all your love, words of encouragement and confirmation. It has all help get me where I am today. With you all there wouldn’t be an EB!
