We had the good fortune of connecting with Anayssa Israel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anayssa, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with this idea because I started stretching my ears in 2011. I wanted to find jewelry that was more delicate in appearance but not too expensive. Well, it turns out that I could make my own jewelry without the middle man and everything would be unique and custom-made. Since starting back in 2011 everything I made was for myself. Fast forward to 2021… Someone asked me to make them a chessboard, then someone else asked for some coasters, then lead to custom jewelry! Since the pandemic, I really wanted to try and find a side hustle to stay afloat and ended up with my new brand Resin Peace! Now I have a full-blown website and making custom pieces for anyone who asks!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I love what I’m doing, creating something new for people and myself makes me feel accomplished and fulfilled! I never thought I would be able to make something so consistent that people would be interested in it, but I guess if you throw the line out there you never know who will bite. At first, it was a little hard for me to start the official business because I kept stopping and procrastinating but once I oficially launched in July of 2021 I have been going non stop and it’s been thrilling, I have learned ALOT Since I wasn’t use to being so busy all the time acclimating to the new lifestyle is a challenge within its self. I have definitely messed up an order or two and had to start from scratch and as a small business owner, we all know how frustrating, time, and money-consuming that can be. But it’s always best that I take my time and provide quality over quantity. I am a very new brand, A small Afro-Latina company manned by one person.. me. I take pride in the things I put effort into and I want people to know that you can literally start from anything and anywhere as long as you’re passionate about it. That’s what my brand is all about.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am definitely a creature of habit. I have a few spots that I love and will always take people to, But first I always ask ” what kind of vibes are we looking for” Then we go from there, I’ve lived in Dallas for about 5 years now and there is always something new popping up that the options are unlimited. First off I may be a little biased, But my Favourite dive bar is Lee Harveys. It’s been around forever and is a staple to the Dallas area… Plus I work there so it’s always a good time. I love to eat and one of my favorite spots is Brick And Bones. Any friend that has visited me from out of town I make it a point to go there. I’m a huge fan of museums and the Perot Museum Of Nature And Science has different pop exhibits every so often.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There is no one person to give a special shout-out to, But I will say I have watched plenty of youtube videos on what NOT to do and mostly Pinterest boards for some new ideas.
