We had the good fortune of connecting with Amy Baylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amy, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I think risk is necessary for you to build the life you want. I was in a position where I still worked at my full time corporate job, but was happier doing my side gig. I had to take a risk and leave the better paying full time job to focus all my energy on my other business. It paid off bring time not only in growing my business, but also for my mental health. As long as you have your priorities straight, know your desired outcome, and have good systems in place something positive can come from taking risks. I listened to a good podcast episode and they stated “the payoff is in the experience vs. the monetary outcome.” I love that because that’s been my mindset when I first said yes to the business and when I decided to leave the corporate world.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m in the direct sales industry focusing on beauty/wellness products. I help people with their hair, skin, and wellness journeys while teaching at a Pilates HIIT studio part time in Dallas. I also help others start their own businesses in the industry. I love helping people get out of their comfort zones and build confidence and community.

My journey has not been easy by any means. I’ve had a lot of ups and downs, made big mistakes and have had to overcome multiple challenges. Biggest lesson I’ve learned is the struggle helps you become successful and you only fail when you give up.

I realize being in the Direct Sales Industry isn’t the same as starting a business from the ground up, but there is entrepreneurial tactics and freedom you have to build your own brand and run your business the way that works for you. Social media is huge when it comes to consumer purchasing so in my opinion everyone can get into the world of social selling and networking to build that brand and business. My company allows you to build that, while providing you the necessary compensation plan. The residual income you can gain from the opportunity can give you time freedom, financial freedom, and a community that is their to support you through your personal growth. It’s a perfect stepping stone to enter into other passions or starting your own business as well. I never would have gotten into teaching group fitness classes if it wasn’t for this business.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Here are some of my favorite spots in the different pockets of Dallas:

-Lower Greenville: HG, Truck yard (live music), La La Land (coffee shop)
-West Village/uptown: Rustic (live music & great hot chicken & cheese), Skinny fats, the standard pour

-Deep Ellum: Dots (great outdoor area), Vidorra, yellow Rosa (cool speak easy),Black swan (good cocktails), Cane Russo(pizza)

-Downtown: The Henry, happiest hour, Saint Ann are all good spots plus I’ve been wanting to try restaurants at Thompson hotel! Statler is fun hotel too!

-Bishop Arts: Paradisio, salty donut, & great to walk around pop into shops

-Knox/Henderson: Henry’s majestic, Chelsea’s corner, Knox street pub

My husband and I are also big into hanging out our house and walking the neighborhood too. Love to have one night with guests where we chill and cookout.
