We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Terrel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
My love of photography started as a little girl. I can remember playing dress up with my dogs and then taking their photos with my Polaroid camera. In high school I joined a photography class and my interest really started to grow. I’d take photos of nature, people, festivals around town etc.

My photos were featured in my hometown (Granbury) newspaper Hood County News. That led me to getting a job at Legendary Portraits where I worked and learned all about the business for 10 years. I then followed my dreams of starting my own photography business in 2011. I can’t imagine doing anything else. In 2014 my husband and I were blessed with twins. This sparked my love for newborn and child photography.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Amanda Elaine Photography offers maternity, in-home newborn sessions, milestone, family, & high school senior photography. We’re located in Aubrey, Texas. Serving the DFW area.

I love the outdoors and water locations so you can find me taking photos at pretty parks or knee deep in a creek to get the perfect shot. There’s so many beautiful locations in the area. Each session is tailored to your families personality and style.

Newborn sessions are taken in clients homes. This has been a big hit with exhausted parents. Having a In-home session takes the stress off of them. They get to stay cozy at home while I set up a mini studio in a space that works best in their home. I literally can setup in almost any space. Clients get studio quality newborn photography in the comfort of their home.

I truly LOVE my job! I get to capture so many special memories for DFW families.

My goal is to create a fun and stress free experience while capturing special memories for your family to cherish for generations.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My husband and I enjoy festivals and outdoor events. With fall coming up they’ll be plenty of festivals happening around DFW. We’ve gone to the McKinney wine festival in the past and it was a lot of fun. McKinney has a wine and food festival coming up in October. Being a photographer I’m on the computer a lot so I enjoy being outside hiking at Ray Robert’s State Park. On date nights we’ve had fun walking around and eating in the Legacy West area in Plano. Legacy Hall has a ton of restaurants all in one building to choose from and on weekends they have live music.

Grandscapes in The Colony is another fun spot to check out. They have a big outdoor stage for live music. We enjoyed eating on the patio at Seven Doors Kitchen & Cocktails.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m thankful for my loyal clients who have supported my business through the years. I’m going on 11 years in business. My family has always encouraged me to follow my dreams. I’m so blessed I’m able to create art and make a living doing it.
