We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Hansen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
I’m going to answer this question with another question.

What would our world look like if giving up was never an option?

We’ve all been in a situation where we’ve been frustrated with something. It could be trying to grasp a new concept, working towards starting a business, or even just trying to reach that coin in between the couch cushions.

What would giving up get you? I’ve experienced all three of these scenarios, and giving up would have gotten me nothing. But keeping going. By continuing to try, I learned algebra, started food influencing, and became 25 cents richer.

As cliché as it sounds, giving up is never an option. Your life is too short to not follow your dreams and make the most of it.

So, what would this world look like if giving up was never an option? This would would look beautiful. Even more beautiful than it is now. Keep going, and leave your mark on this planet. Give your life new meaning.

Food photography and influencing was something I certainly did not see myself doing two years ago when I started my education at Texas Tech University studying Animal Science. I wanted to run my own Wagyu Cow/Calf operation and live my cowgirl dreams. Animals have always been a huge part of my life, but when the pandemic hit, I had nothing to do but sit in my house or go play with the calves. I started cooking at home and taking pictures, and then, my business was born. As an influencer starting out, nobody teaches you how to move up in the world. Everything is trial and error, and the competition is stiff. It isn’t easy, but supporting local restaurants and making art is well worth the struggle. There are days when I want nothing to do with my platform, and it is frustrating when my page isn’t growing fast enough/people don’t engage with my content, I’ve learned that you just can’t compare yourself to others, and to be grateful for everything you’ve accomplished thusfar.
I’m just a cowgirl eatin’ Dallas with dreams of eating the world.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
It is hard to fit DFW into one weekend trip.. but let’s do it! Friday night we’d hit the town and grab a pizza from Greenville Avenue Pizza Co. Their pizza really is the best. We’d then go to Katy Trail Ice House and grab some drinks.
Saturday morning we’d wake up bright and early to check out the Fort Worth Zoo. Its the best zoo in Texas! After a morning of fun with the animals, we’d go walk around the Fort Worth Stockyards and check out all the cute western-wear boutiques and shops! By then it’d be dinner time, so we’d go grab a steak at the Cattlemen’s Steakhouse. After that, a night of dancing at a western dance hall (there are a bunch)!
Sunday morning before you go, we’d hit up Ida Claire in Dallas for some upscale southern brunch and cocktails.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to my mom. She has supported me when everyone else told me I couldn’t do it. She helped me through rough times and everything I do, I do for her.
