We had the good fortune of connecting with Alyssa Arredondo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alyssa, is there something you believe many others might not?
The general advice of working hard now so that I can enjoy life later. It doesn’t really make sense to me, why would I want to waste all of my “best” years working and wait until in my 60s to see the world or do things I wanted to do back when I was in my 20s? Tomorrow isn’t promised and there’s no guarantee that I’ll physically or financially be able to experience all the joys of life when I’m older. Of course I think it’s important to do a good job in whatever career you are in but I don’t believe in the 8+ hour work day. I think it’s insane and counterproductive. and there needs to be time for people, young and old to actually enjoy life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My business originally started as just selling false eyelashes but I’ve been able to expand and now I also offer gold plated jewelry, press on nails, and a few other small beauty items. Lately, I’ve been doing a lot of custom orders for press on nails and I’m super proud of myself for the designs I’ve been able to do even if they seem a little daunting at first. Starting and growing a business hasn’t been easy but it’s been really fun and I’ve learned a lot along the way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Wow that’s actually a pretty hard question! I love brunch and coffee so we’d definitely be doing that, most likely at a place called Yolk, they have the best Horchata cold brew! Then I’d see if there were any small business markets around that week and take them to go do a little shopping. Honestly, I’m more of a spontaneous, “in the moment” type of person so for the rest of their time here I would most likely just get on TikTok and search some trending spots for activities or places to eat!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In general I would say my family and friends because they’ve all been super supportive in helping me promote my business, referring others, purchasing my products, and just overall being there for me and my business. I also have to give a special thanks to my boyfriend because he’s been my biggest motivator in starting my own business. He was the first and only one I told at the very beginning stages when it was all just an idea in my head and he’s encouraged and pushed me every step of the way ever since.
