We had the good fortune of connecting with AlphaMoses and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi AlphaMoses, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk chasing can be quite addictive for me. I love to think about the endless possibilities and just how far or extreme a situation can go when it comes to choices I make with my music career. I can one hundred percent say that without most of the risks I took, I wouldn’t be where I am today and I probably would be nowhere. Sometimes we learn the most valuable lessons from our most horrible and memorable losses. Risk has taught me not to let failure define my moves and career. I put out a project and I dump a lot of money into promoting it, knowing fully well that the project could still do worse regardless, or it could garner the most attention it ever has. Wording things differently or saying controversial stuff is also a risk i take with my music. Although I try not to be too controversial, I’ve learnt to take the risks when necessary and laugh at the outcome when it goes south. Life is good like that 🙂

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a Musical/Rap artist. I go by AlphaMoses and my closest friends call me Wxlf. I was born and raised in Nigeria so my style of rap and even the accent sets me apart by over a mile from any artists you’ve ever heard of. I’m weird, but good weird. You might like me a lot more if you look into what I do and how I do it. To be honest, I’m very excited about my upcoming EP. It’s gonna be all about BDSM. Risky? Yes. But I’m willing to take that risk to expand people’s mind. It makes me wanna leap just thinking about it, I hope you like it when it comes out soon enough. First time I ever heard American rap/hiphop was from my elder brother back in Nigeria. It intrigued me. Here in the US, I started listening some more and quickly established a base of which was my favorite and who was my favorite Artist (Lil Wayne, of course). He (Lil Wayne) inspires me in a way no one ever has. The lyrical brilliance, the non stop metaphors and the unending melody and flow, it just makes me wonder, how does the mind come up with things like this? Quite amazing, I know. I wanna be better than him in time, that’s a challenge I’m willing to take on, all respect to him. My biggest challenge however is my “difference”. I have an accent so I’m hard to understand sometimes, but it’s also what most people love about me. I’ve decided to just go with it instead of trying to fit a norm or box. I guess you’ll see how far that goes if you keep up with me. I’ve learned to be patient with myself and my work. Nothing is perfect, but there is a lot of beauty to be found in imperfections. I want the world to know that Passion is always gonna beat trials. If you love someone or something enough, it’ll have no option but to work out. That may sound impossible in this day and age, but 500 years ago, the best we could do was horses, now we have self driving cars. Crazy right? You might not think so but they did back then. The brand “Wxlf” is gonna change people’s life world wide, and I’m gonna make sure it happens.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite spot right now is Abi’s hookah lounge in Richardson Tx. It’s where I frequent on weekends to perform and it has the best drinks and entertainment I’ve seen so far. My feet usually hurt the next day from standing and jumping on my toes. I also love to spend time in the studio, so if my friends were to visit, I’d take them there to watch how music comes into life, it’s almost magical. The way the engineer works and the vibes is just unmatchable elsewhere. Green Elephant is also another place I love to go and watch people showcase their talents. It’s amazing the people you could meet there on a day to day basis. When it comes to food, I’m a junk food hoarder, so I’ll make my friends have all the junk they can eat ranging from Whataburger, Sonic, McDonald’s and Chic-fil-a. I especially love their sauce and don’t forget, Sonic shakes are the 8th wonder of the world, no exaggeration!!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
