Meet Allison Moorman | Certified Nutrition Coach & Recipe Developer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Allison Moorman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Allison, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I had 2 major life shifts that led me to starting my own business.
The first came after years of working in marketing and sales. I loved campaign and event planning, talking to customers, hosting educational events, and seeing my creativity come to life for brands. However, there were so many projects I wanted to do but never got off the ground due to lack of response from my clients or managers. It was very frustrating to have what felt like good, productive ideas go to waste because I was restricted by others. I think that’s when the idea of working for myself started to bloom so I could execute my ideas on my own terms.
The second shift was experiencing my own health transformation. For years, I struggled with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and infertility, trying every diet out there and exercising 5-6 days a week. But nothing seemed to click or make a difference in the symptoms I experienced. I started researching more practical, sustainable ways to lose weight and restore hormone balance. Then in 2019, I finally got my symptoms under control and became pregnant naturally. It was such a shock! I was overjoyed at becoming a mom, and also to have figured out a more compassionate approach to health. After sharing my story and seeing how many women suffered from the same health issues I did, I felt called to talk about it to help others on their journey.
When my family relocated to Richardson, I knew time to make the leap. I became a Certified Nutrition Coach and earned an additional certificate in hormone health. Now every day, I get to educate clients, create food content, and help others navigate the wild west of overwhelming health advice online.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a certified nutrition coach, and it is my mission to help people discover they can nourish their body in healthful ways without going through extreme measures to do so. I offer private, virtual nutrition counseling sessions where I educate clients, set goals, and help keep them accountable. I love cooking and recipe development is another large part of what I do. I film and share new recipes several times a week online so people can find their next new favorite dish.
I primarily work with women, and specialize in diet and lifestyle habits that promote healthy hormone balance. As I’ve seen in my own personal health journey, most popular diets or regimens that are overly restrictive can actually have a negative impact on endocrine function. Not only do they leave you undernourished and over stressed, but they are simply not satisfying or sustainable. Approaching health and nutrition with practical, individualized support leads to habits that actually last.
Starting my business was literally a dream come true, but it has been far from easy. Right before I was about to launch in 2022, my mother unexpectedly passed away. The excitement I previously had taking my brand photography, setting up my website, and sharing my hard work with world was met with unimaginable grief. Every step I’ve taken since then has taken immense effort, and I just try to balance this deep sense of loss with the prospect of hope. Doing what I love and helping others fills me with purpose, and I think that’s the only reason I’ve been able to carry on through my own healing journey.
This experience has taught me to be flexible when things don’t go according to plan (because basically nothing has!). Instead of giving up every time I feel like I’m not doing enough, I pivot and shift my energy into what is more productive or rewarding. My ultimate goal is to help people, not reach some lofty goal of success. If my work and my message can make a difference in just one person’s life, then it was time well spent.
I miss my mom every single day, but I just know she is cheering me on and I hope she is proud of how far I’ve come.
I want people to know that when you work with me, you will work with someone who is here to listen to you. I’m someone that will help you build habits that make sense for your life. I know what it’s like to have the same nutrition advice regurgitated to me doctor after doctor without ever helping me make a plan for my unique needs. I want people to leave our sessions feeling empowered, confident, and excited about tackling health goals because they make sense to YOU.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
You’re going to come to my house!
Okay maybe I’m just saying this because I’m a mom with young kids and I don’t get to go out much (hah!), but I absolutely love hosting and having elaborate dinner parties. My guests have enjoyed filet mignon, scallops, neapolitan style pizza, fajitas, quiches, cocktails, mocktails, and without a doubt the best salad you’ve ever had. I may work in creating healthy, balanced recipes for clients, but I firmly believe that enjoying incredible food for special occasions is equally important in feeling satisfied with life.
My family moved to Richardson from Houston fairly recently, so we are still trying to discover new places ourselves. We really try to avoid big chains as much as possible so we can enjoy smaller, local favorites you can’t find other places. The food is usually better quality too! At the top of our list so far is:
-Sueño for Tex Mex and margaritas
-The Fifth for date night or girls night
-The Wilfred for cool speakeasy vibes
-Lavendou for elevated French cuisine
-Good Union BBQ during CityLine Live & Boho Market for family friendly fun
-Cane Rosso for pizza night
-Bagel Cafe 21 for breakfast
If I had a friend staying with me for the week, I would try to fit in as many of those in between visiting the beautiful parks in the area and the Dallas Arboretum. We find ourselves outdoors way more often here than we could in hot, muggy, concrete Houston!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely! First of all I would not be able to do what I am so passionate about without the support of my family and friends. I am so beyond grateful for their encouragement through every step of getting my business off the ground.
I also want to recognize Victoria Saperstein, an amazing photographer and entrepreneur in Dallas. She helped bring my vision for my brand to life, and she has taught me so much about being a small business owner. (https://victoriasaperstein.com/)
And lastly, I would like to shoutout Dr. Ruth Musick and Dr. Staci Benson at Paradigm Family Health. I have had the honor of working with several of their patients, and I am amazed at the level of attention and care they give to those in their practice. I’m very grateful for our partnership and our shared interest of helping people feel heard in healthcare! (https://www.paradigmfamilyhealth.com/)
