We had the good fortune of connecting with Allie Nyman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Allie, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I used to be afraid of taking risks before I read Dream Big by Bob Goff. He explained that it’s good to have dreams and take risks just make sure those risks align with the Bible. After reading his book, I decided to take a few risks of my own but I made sure those risks did not contradict scripture. I think taking those risks have grown my business and me as a person. I feel like when you take a risk you jump all in and hope someone is there to catch you. For me, that person is God. He has definitely blessed my business and my family more than I could have imagined.

What should our readers know about your business?
My husband and I struggled for about four years to get pregnant. When we finally saw the test was positive, we were overjoyed. We couldn’t believe we were actually having a baby. Of course we were in the middle of a pandemic and gyms were closed so I could not train clients. I decided to use that time to learn how to use my camera and felt this desire to take my son’s newborn photos. I spent months studying and taking as many classes as I could. I even joined a mentoring program that has been amazing. When my son was born, he spent the first four months of his life screaming in pain. We finally saw a specialist who said he had a milk protein sensitivity. She got us the right formula and medication and my son was a completely different baby. I had put my business on hold to help him but I feel like challenge only made me stronger and I came out fighting harder than when I went in. I absolutely love photographing maternity and newborns and my goal is to keep learning, keep growing, and never stop.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite place is Two Brothers Winery in Keller. The owners are amazing and the wine is so good! I highly recommend the meatballs and smores lava cake as well as every wine on the menu. We also love trips to the Fort Worth Zoo and Dallas Aquarium.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my Shoutout to God for giving me a passion for photography, my husband and family for their constant encouragement, and my mentors at Jos & Banks Mentoring. They have all played a huge role in growing my business and shaping me as a person.
