We had the good fortune of connecting with Valeria Rangel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Valeria, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The idea of owning my own business sounded impossible but It was something that I dreamed of doing. I was two months postpartum and battling PPD when I decided to start my own business. One late night while I was taking care of my daughter I was thinking about how this year would the first time spending my birthday as a mom. I wanted to do something special, I came across the idea of a picnic at the park. I wanted us to be safe and practice social distancing and what a better way than a picnic. I went onto Pinterest and started searching for ideas. I came across “Luxury Picnics” and I became infatuated with the idea of having my own luxury picnic business. I did my research and pitched my idea to my husband and he supported me 100%. I took the leap and purchased everything I needed to start. I got my business logo made, business shirts, business cards and etc. I launched my business in May and remained optimistic. I can say that starting my own business has helped me with self-love and has helped my post partum depression. My business brings me happiness and I hope I can bring that same feeling to my clients.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
DFWLUXPICNICS is a Latina owned small business that specializes in luxury picnics. What sets us apart from the other is that we are affordable. We want everyone to enjoy and experience our luxury picnics. We don’t only specialize in luxury picnics, we have flower walls, grass walls, neon signs and more backdrops available. We also specialize in balloon garlands, anything can be added onto your picnic or you can hire us for any other event! We launched DFWLUXPICNICS on May 12th and in just 4 months we have grown so much. I am excited for the future and to see where my hard work and perseverance take my small business. I’ve gotten where I am today because of my work, from start to finish I make sure everything is done to perfection. The most important lesson that I have learned is to be patient and trust the process. Don’t expect overnight success, there will be hurdles along the way. It’s all a process. DFWLUXPICNICS is a small business with a big heart, we love what we do and we can’t wait to see what the future has in store for us.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
You can’t come to Texas and not have BBQ. One of my favorite BBQ spots is “Hard Eight BBQ”. It’s our our go to BBQ spot, they have the best ribs! Autumn is my favorite season of the year, there’s so many fun things to do. One of my favorite places to visit during the fall time is “Hall’s Pumpkin Farm and Corn Maze” we love to go take pictures and purchase pumpkins to paint on. The Dallas Farmers Market on Sundays is always a great time. They have amazing produce, and fresh fruit. It’s a great place to go with friends and family! Pinstack is also another fun place to go. They have bowling, arcade games, laser tag, rock climbing , bumper cars, food and drinks! The perfect Saturday night outing.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My daughter Mila, my husband Osiel and my family have been a huge part of my success. I wouldn’t be where I am now if it wasn’t for them. They all help me in any way that they can. They are very supportive of my ideas even if they’re a little crazy. They inspire and motivate me to be the best version of myself and to push myself beyond my limits. They send me videos and pictures for inspiration. They are amazing, their encouragement and support is what helps me thrive.
