We had the good fortune of connecting with Alicia Franklin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alicia, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
I believe most outsiders feel that the beauty industry is over saturated. I hear outsiders say “everyone sells hair or everyone does hair.” While they may know a lot of people who do hair/sell hair, there is always room for more people. This industry allows you to be creative and create your on destiny. There is never a cap on how much creativity you can bring to this industry.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets me apart from most salons is that every client has their own appointment. My clients truly have their very own appointment. This allows each one to have one on one time so they do not feel rushed, can speak freely and know they will not be in the salon all day! I am excited about the expansion of my business which is Glamorous Brand. This expansion is online and in the salon I sell some of if not the best virgin hair extensions, wigs and clip-ins. I will also be introducing cranial prosthesis (medical wigs) July 2021. I must say this journey has not been easy. There has been many times I wanted to give up. Due to failed launches, not hitting set goals or just feeling burnt out. I have found solutions by talking to my support system (they always share experiences and words of encouragement) , go back to the drawing board so I can remind myself on why I started and most of all stay consistent even on the bad days. I have learned that strangers can be some of your biggest supporters, make sure you have your business setup correctly from the start and mostly don’t feel compelled to do everything yourself ask for help. I want the world to know that Glamorous Brand / Shear Glamour Salon is always striving to give you the best service, products and customer service. Here you are number one! Your money and time are respected and truly appreciated. I am always striving to be the best version of me so I can pour that energy into others.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Day one we have to go to the river walk, take a tour of downtown San Antonio and enjoy margaritas and great food.

We are going to J-Prime to have a delicious dinner and my favorite lemon drop martinis.

For breakfast/brunch we will do Snooze great food and more martinis (why not right!).

We have to go to the South Chicken and Waffles! Great food with a nice vibe.

Friday night we will hang out at ReBar so we can listen to good music and have drinks.

Sunday hookah, great music and food at Bentley Bar.!

I love to hang out and enjoy great company so the list is endless.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe my success to a true village. From day one I had my cosmetology instructor (Ellen Bradley) who always encouraged me and was an amazing mentor. My family and friends have poured love, wisdom and encouragement into me the whole way through. I can’t thank them enough, they truly push me to limits I thought I would never reach. My grandmother literally to this day calls me everyday to make sure “I’m being the best version of me.” Then I have my amazing clients who are some of my biggest cheer leaders. They always are supportive, loyal and great mentors. Without all of this support I would not be who I am today.
