We had the good fortune of connecting with Ali Mirza and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ali, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I was in my 9-5 job, I did not want to be like my manager in 10 years. I wanted to create a platform where I can be creative and not trade hours for dollars. I wanted to leverage the growing trend of internet and social media. Starting my own social media consulting business has been the most rewarding journey of my life.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am the founder of #iSocialYou, a social media agency based in Dallas, TX. We help business owners with two important aspects of digital marketing. (1) How to create an engaging online community and (2) How to generate leads and sales for the business. The biggest lesson I have learned is not to worry about the competition too much. Worrying about the competitors slows you down and sometimes distracts you from your own goals.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Plano legacy area is must see for any new comers in Dallas. Also don’t forget to visit the white rock late. We don’t have any beaches in Dallas but the lakes we have are amazing.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am thankful to the social media breakfast dallas organization. I have met so many amazing local marketers and business owners in that group.
