Meet Aaron Aguilar: Owner, fabricator, pyrographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Aaron Aguilar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aaron, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
At its most basic, I provide custom gifts that people can give their loved ones or items that commemorate a special occasion. But I think that what I really do is capture moments of time and the relationships that are formed between people. With every piece that I do, I try and think about the importance that it carries for both the giver and the receiver of the gift. I try to make each piece of work as special as I can because I know that it is more than a gift, it is a representation of the love that people have for one another.

Please tell us more about your business. How did you get to where you are today business-wise. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way.
High Proof Designs began as a hobby to fill a niche that I felt was not being represented. Through hard work, an amazing support system and awesome customers I have been able to break into markets that I could not have imagined when I first started. Building a business from the ground up is never easy, but I have been able to create a name on the back of hard work, consistent quality products and innovating new ideas. My most proud moment is every time a customer sees their completed piece and it exceeds anything they could’ve imagined.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Anyone that comes to visit me better come hungry. We would hit up all the local BBQ spots and show them that nothing comes close to Texas BBQ. If we were ever able to get out of the food coma I think we would spend most of our time hanging out and enjoying each other’s company over some whiskey and cigars. If they didn’t already know my friends and family, I would introduce them to one another… that just might be all the entertainment they needed haha

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wife Shannon and my daughter Sydney for sacrificing every bit as me to see High Proof Designs’ success. Without their love and support this would be almost impossible. I’d also like to shoutout my family and friends for supporting the business, spreading the word and taking an interest in what I do. Small up and coming business thrive on word of mouth, and I can credit almost all my success to those who took the time to make sure that my name got out into the world.
