How did you come up with the idea for your business?

Our community is comprised of some absolutely brilliant entrepreneurs and so we asked a few of them to tell us the story of how they came up with the ideas for their business.
The idea for The Bright Factory came at the intersection of several paths in my life. I had been working in the fashion industry for over a decade in various areas of the fashion pipeline. I’ve been a part of the glitz and glamour. But, I also became aware of the unfortunate, darker, underside of the fashion industry. The tragedy at Rana Plaza in 2013 was the moment that changed me. I wouldn’t say I came up with the idea. I am a Christian and I firmly believe God is the one who inspired this idea for my business. I was a missionary over seas and when I came back I had nothing but a camera to my name. I quickly discovered my passion in photographing intimate weddings and elopements, but something else was missing. When I was taking a marketing course, I discovered that who I was marketing to was not my ideal client as I have severe asthma and can’t hike miles. When talking to my coaches, I was encouraged to learn into it, that God could use me despite asthma, and thus, photographing accessible weddings and elopements has become part of my business and I love it! April 2020, God gave me a dream with the name “In Living Colour”. At first, I didn’t know what was I supposed to do with that name. I just woke up singing the theme some to the 90’s sitcom and went on by my day! I was a teacher for 12 years and I loved teaching. I had found a school district that I planned to retire from but God had other plans for me! So to answer your question, It wasn’t at all me who came up with this business, it was ALL A DREAM!
