The quote to me is relatable to me because I learn something new on every shoot. I feel it’s important to keep on a open mind when chasing your dreams. There’s one affirmation I’ve had written down in all my journals for years now, “Always flow forward. Flow forward always.” This quote sums up what being alive means to me. I believe there is a flow to life, a river of energy that can be felt connecting all the moments that you’ve lived, the good and the bad. When you’re open to this energy you find that it has a benevolence to it, it accepts all of you. I think oftentimes when life doesn’t go our way or we’re hit with an event that shatters us to the core, people try to go against that river or convince themselves that it doesn’t exist. However doing so prevents you from moving forward and putting yourself together. I experienced this first hand when I lost my younger sister, Shamora, during the summer of 2019. My favorite quote is “Never let a temporary situation steal your permanent job.” This quote means everything to me, It sums up how I live my life. More often than I would like I find ourselves in situations that make me feel helpless or useless, but this quote reminds me that the feeling is temporary. Everyone has their own struggles and personal traumas that scar us, but those wounds heal and you can become stronger when you make it to the other side. I use this quote to remind me that the negative feelings are temporary and that I will make it through and to not allow things to change my positive outlook on life. It was one of the reasons I decided to actually move forward with my business because for far too long I was allowing fear to make many excuses as to why it just would not work out.
