We had the good fortune of connecting with Laurie Ann Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Laurie Ann, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Living with anxiety Im always looking for ways to self care. My bath routine has always been a major part of my self care. I literally would buy ever sugar scrub, bubble bath, bath salt and candle I could find that include essential oils and nice calming fragrances that soothe, comfort and relax me. One day I had the idea to create my own line that was centered around just that. Bringing you good energy, shifting your mood and lifting ones spirits. Innergies promotes inner wellness, peace and balance. We may not be able to control the ins and outs of our day to day. Who cuts you off in traffic. Having a bad day at work or being stuck in traffic. We can however control what goes on inside. How we respond to things and how we allow them to affect us.When your inner is whole outside things cannot easily disrupt that.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
INNERgies is an Essential Bodi Care and wellness line launched in the midst of a pandemic. Innergies is more than just another natural bodi care line. The message behind the brand is deeper. We launched when mental health was at an all time high. Our lives changed instantly and so many were left scrambling trying to figure out what next, and adjust to our new normal. I created Innergies with the hope that our collection of products would bring just a little peace, comfort and joy to ones day. Nothing comes easy, especially when you’re following your dreams. The biggest struggle is not having a clue of the how, but knowing the what. I know exactly what I want to do. Not always sure on the how to do it. Launching INNERgies and being a cohost of Anxiety Is A Mutha Podcast has also forced me to come out of my closed-off shell. I don’t always like the spotlight or attention. I’m comfortable around my family and friends. But networking and speaking in front of strangers isn’t my favorite thing to do. I have anxiety thinking about it. If I expect to have a successful business, I quickly realized I’d have to overcome this challenge. And this is still a work in progress.
The struggles don’t stop there, but I don’t allow them to define me. I know the path God has for my life and I follow it. I continue to grow, learn and listen to those around me who’ve been there and overcame. If you’re not being challenged in life, are you really doing anything?
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’d definitely begin our Saturday morning with a workout. My trainer Body by Lee has an amazing step class that she host at Elite Sports University with Youniquebodies_. The class is so upbeat, fun and a great way to start the weekend, get that heart rate up and burn some calories! The farmers market is also a must. What’s better than a Saturday morning at the farmers market? Nothing! The food trucks are an absolute must. We would definitely checkout @zzs_icecream_puffs ig page to see where they are for the day and stop by for a sweet treat. My favorite plant lounge, Energy Gardens is always a great vibe. Brunching on Sundays at Harlowe’s, Stirr or anywhere in Deep Ellum is always a good choice. And we could never go wrong with having a girls day picnic in the park hosted by @fancypoppinpicnics. There are so many choices, one of the many things I love about Dallas!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have so many amazing supporters and love around me. My family is definitely at the top of my list. My husband always supports me in everything I do and encourages me on the days when I doubt myself. My children are my #1 reason for never giving up on what I want to do. There’s no one I can tell them they can achieve whatever they desire if I’m afraid to follow my own dreams. My mother and siblings always have my back and are there for whatever I need. and I have so many girlfriends who are more like sisters that fill me with live and support daily. I truly have a tribe of love and light. It so important to not only surround ourselves with positive and loving people but we in return be that for them. Everyone has an off day and will need some encouragement, an extra push, a kind word etc to keep them going. I have that and more. I love my good INNERgie Tribe, they know who they are!
