We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Knowles and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stephanie, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am a Dallas native and I have remained in the city of Dallas throughout my adulthood. My background and upbringing has a tremendous impact as to who I am today. I have been fortunate to have family, role models and mentors that have a strong and solid upbringing. From an early age, I had many people that influenced my work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. I can vividly remember that in my younger days there were many people were in my tribe that never took “no” for an answer. If there is a will, there was a way and defeat was not an option. If one door closes, another one is opening. It is important to have strong minded and supportive people in your life. I am grateful to have had people in my life that were selfless to see my succeed in life.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My career in project management is not your typical 8-5 pm position. Starting out at a major corporation is never easy, when your main goal is to climb to the top very quickly. There were many times that I wanted to turn around, walk away and give up, but if you outlast the adversity you will reap the rewards. Moving into my 17th year in my career, I am most proud of my perseverance to stay the course to excel and thrive. A wise person always told me, “you must become a valuable asset and not a liability.” I have adhered to that advice and that is what sets me a part from others. I have learned many different skills within my career, but I continue to improve and learn new skills which increases my value as an asset to the company and my colleagues. As I flash forward from the beginning to seventeen years later, you would expect that everyday was not full sunshine, but the lessons that I have learned along the way is that you should never lose your determination to succeed. Your success depends on you and not others. It is easy for anyone to blame others and make excuses as to why you are not succeeding. When you learn that you hold the keys to your own success or failure, than you truly realize that you are in control of your life and destiny. I would like the world to know that not only in my career but as a inspirational speaker and talk show host my professionalism in life remains consistent with any role that I am a part of professionally and personally.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
If my best friend was visiting the area, some of the most exciting and interesting places that I would check out would be full of conversation, food, and enjoying the beautiful views of the city with diverse individuals from different backgrounds and cultures. Every experience that I love to embark on and the places that I go and people that I break bread with must allow me be in the like mindness of people that are embracing life to the fullest. In life, we can have very good and bad experiences, but the places that we go and the people that hang out with must provide us with the long lasting memories that we will cherish for years to come.
