We had the good fortune of connecting with Shandy Shafer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shandy, how do you think about risk?
Taking risk can be essential in the wonderful world of FASHION and as the greats ALL say,…. “Sometimes, you have got to risk it to get the biscuit”.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My first symptoms of MS(Multiple Sclerosis) began at the young age of 12 and at the proud age of 33 which I am now, it has taken A LOT of time, patience, and understanding to be able to navigate through ALL the obstacles( and the United States Healthcare System) in order to SUCCESSFULLY reach/live out my dream. It is simply NOT for the weak. You have to fight for what you want.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I have a weekend available I want to spend it in the Dallas Arts District with fellow creative minds or at the South Side Ballroom listening to some killer tunes🤘🏼

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Other then my Ride or Die Robert Denton who I can ALWAYS trust to have my back and to stand PROUDLY by my side…, I would have to say I owe a HUGE shoutout and THANK YOU to Vogue Runway for helping to discover me and providing me not only with FAITH in myself but also to proper tools needed to allow me to be successful in my trade.
