Meet Rabia Inayat | Artist, Business Woman, & IT Professional

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rabia Inayat and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rabia, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued artistic business (I actually have two!) because I have, since a young age, always loved different forms of art. At the moment SunLily Events is a side business since I do work full time in IT, but hopefully in the future it will grow bigger!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Sunlily Events was founded because I had been noticing that as people got out of grade school, it became harder for many to make friends. Creating SunLily Events gives my customers/guests a chance to socialize and make new friends as my events are a great opportunity for interactions along with fun that is related to certain interests or themes.
I am really excited to plan future events! I am actually planning on doing a cup sleeve event in May for Monsta X’s 7th anniversary (these are fan events and not affiliated with the band or their company, if I get the opportunity to do that in the future that would be super cool!)

I am still a new small business, so it is definitely not easy, and I am still trying to figure my way around some challenges that come up. One of the bigger challenges are: making a profit or even getting to break even on costs and finding Cafes to partner up with for cup sleeve events (those are the types of events I have started off with, I plan to branch out to different types of events in the future). A lot of times for myself and the hosts that are helping me, majority of the funding is out of pocket for us, along with help from friends and sponsors/donations,

Some lessons I have learned are:

Get EVERYTHING in writing.
The answer is guaranteed “no” if you never ask…so ask!
A lot of people are really nice and willing to help, just ask.
Always uplift others up with you, and offer a helping hand.

What I want the world to know about my brand is: “SunLily Events brings radiance like the sun and the beauty of a flower to your events. We will make your events shine!”

I want all my businesses/brands to make others happy, smile, and feel good!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
K-town Carrollton for some KBBQ, check out the bakeries, cafes, shops, and definitely get some bubble tea! Also, downtown Dallas because that is where the museums are!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shoutout to my family, friends, sponsors/donators, supporters, and of course God! Can’t do this without y’all!!
