We had the good fortune of connecting with Marchella Simon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marchella, what do you attribute your success to?
There are several factors that we think make our brand valuable to others. My mom and I have a great working relationship and it sets the tone for our business. It helps that we are both very detailed-oriented and organized. Our team members’ experiences always bring together the best from each of us for whatever project we undertake. Our prior work experiences have instilled in us the power of determination and hard work, the skill of problem solving and flexibility and a desire for excellence. We believe our work speaks for itself and our connections with others has helped us tremendously in acquiring clients. We work very hard to bring our clients’ visions to life and aim to “wow!” Many of our clients have been appreciative of how deeply we dive into details to ensure the success of the project. We are confident our satisfied clients will continue to refer us to others.

What should our readers know about your business?
We are a woman-owned business that champions diversity within our team and within the marketing and event planning industry. We commit to working with and supporting other MWBEs and SBEs. There are so many talented individuals in the metroplex and we love connecting with them and bringing them in on our projects. Most of our business comes from event planning for weddings and corporate activities that include meetings and party planning. We offer marketing services also such as website design, copywriting and editing, print and video projects, graphic design, social media management and advertising. We believe that what sets us apart is our dedication to detail.

Getting to where we are today seemed easy. Before we actually started our business in late 2015, we already had coordinated four weddings and had a couple of clients who had hired us for their weddings for the next year. After we planned those weddings, we started growing from there. Our greatest challenge is taking the time to promote our business. Our team continues to invest time in professional development, and in one course, the presenter said we needed to spend as much time working on our business as we do working in our business. We think this is a great concept and now we need to apply it.

Everyone has a unique and valuable story to tell. We love to promote and celebrate our clients, who don’t typically get a lot of mainstream social media attention, on our social media accounts. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional and creative services to our clients.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Dallas is an exciting city with so much to do and experience and so much history. I have lived here most of my life and I am still experiencing new things. We have great food spots, museums, great places to shop and many family-friendly activities.

If I had a friend coming to visit, I would take them to some of the neighborhoods around Dallas where you can experience the different vibes throughout the city. I would start with Downtown, the heart of the city. One of my new favorite spots to go to is the AT&T Discovery District. It’s a great place to chill and hangout, enjoy good food and drinks and catch live music from time to time. Another favorite place is The Black Academy of Arts and Letters which is housed on the east end of the Dallas Convention Center. There is something for everyone–from concerts to theatre performances to comedy club acts.

Next up is Deep Ellum. The streets are filled with vibrant murals from local artists. There are lots of good eats, cocktail bars and venues where you can catch a concert or go to a comedy show. I would also include a drive over to the Bishop Arts District. Bishop Arts has a great, diverse nightlife and many independent boutiques, art galleries, restaurants, coffee shops and bars to enjoy. Uptown has great brunch spots and sports bars and if you enjoy running or riding your bike, you have to visit Katy Trail. Lower Greenville is a strip of trendy restaurants with bars and a lively nightlife. Many of the rooftop patios are decorated with festive lights which makes for a fun atmosphere at night. If it’s a beautiful day, the whole family can enjoy a day at the Arboretum (which is beautiful all year!) near White Rock Lake.

Last, but not least, Trinity Groves has a great selection of restaurants and retail shops to explore. There is also an area at the base of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge where they often host large-scale events for the whole family to enjoy. So needless to say, there is plenty to do when you come to Dallas and lots of culture and history to enjoy.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A large part of our success is due to the strong support system we have around us. When my mom and I were just floating around the idea of starting a business, my Dad supported the idea from the start. His encouragement and confidence pushed us to start and keep taking steps forward. He was there to help us at our events, kept us motivated and cheered us on in every way he could. Once we shared with close friends and family about our venture, the support just continued to pour in. They were there working alongside us at our events, sending us referrals, keeping us encouraged and rooting for us to succeed. And, our team members Leanna and Deepika have been an integral part of our success. Their hard work and dedication to the success of our business is truly invaluable. We all seem to complement each other with what we bring to the table.
